Your Sophie is beautiful and looks so proud of her baby belly! As an EMT I have delivered 3 babies (human) in an ambulance and the only thing I can tell you is try to be calm so Sophie feeds off that calmness. You are very lucky to get to experience new babies. Don't think my Hubby will go for that, he's to afraid of losing our mama or the babies. He is a realy softie and was a fireman, EMT and police officer for 18 years..aren't they great!

Welcome to YT and yes you belong here, anything yorkie related or relative :D belongs here.. you Sophie is gorgeous.. and your hubby well congrats he is very handy.. I have a pregnant girl too.. we are expecting silkie terriers by thanksgiving.. please keep us updated on Sophie's whelping..

I wish you very good luck on your first breeding. I sure hope along with a talented husband who builds lovely things, you also have a good vet to turn to if labour goes wrong.

I hope that your litter will be healthy and happy and all find good homes.

UPDATE~

On Sunday. She had 6 she had 4 males and 2 females.

Sophie is doing great and is being a great momma.

The puppies are doing well. The fist puppy was born without on back leg but is eating and getting along. I am taking them all to the vet today. I am concerned about the runt because he is so small. He is eating well.

Here are there weight at birth.

Boy-3.4 This is the one with 3 legs
Girl-5.0
Boy-2.4 This is the little guy
Girl-4.0
Boy- 5.1
Boy-5.2

They are so cute! As for the little guy with 3 legs - lots of dogs do just fine, as long as he eats and mom takes care of him... he'll be great!:congrats:

oh Bless your heart, congratulations on the birth of the babies..
my mentor had a 3 leg puppy last year too.. she kept him because she fell in love with him, he is a healthy big alaskan malamute today..:) and he does everything her other dogs do.. she had him neutered and he lives with them as their much beloved pet..

Congrats!!! I am so happy that the whelp went well! The puppies and beautiful. And I think the 3 legged guy is just gorgeous!

Is there any chance that you will be able to keep one of the puppies?

We are back. The vet said they all look great and put my mind at rest. He told me to do what I am already doing. He told me to make sure the runt eats. I have been setting my alarm and making sure he nurses. I have a postal scale and I am tracking his weight. As far as "Trey" He looks to be healthy and he does not expect anything to go wrong. So great news. I knew this would be hard but wow I am up all night worrying checking on them. They are so worth it. But hats off to the people who do this alot. This will be my last time.

Yes we are keeping one. I am not sure who? They all melt my heart.

I think I would have to keep the three legged one. I love the name Trey. I'm sure you could manage to keep two right! :p

Of course I'm sure someone on YT would take Trey too.
