I think we really need to start not being so quick to give an answer to a question like that.. I think some of the people on here need to really think before they give the wrong answer to someone.

Giving a good answer is better then going off on them and having them leave with NO answer at all.

We all had to start somewhere. And asking questions is better than just winging it.

We should not be so quick to judge these people. None of us were born knowing how to breed. And I think it is pretry safe to say we have all made mistakes.

I think you can tell who comes on here to really find some advice and good answers and some who come on here and just want to rattle everyones cages. I think if they really wanted to learn how to breed they would ask more than Can I breed a # lb yorkie..... to me that sounds shady. They are just looking for the quick fix and fast cash, they are not in it for the love of the breed... They know nothing and dont want to learn.

When I came on here and expressed my desire to start breeding and asking for advice, most of the people ripped me apart.

There were a few that took the time to answer my questions, and give me thier phone nujm bers, and even PMd me telling me to just ignore the flames.

Several years later this is still going on.

I totally understand those involved in rescue being pasionate About their work. It has to be hard to see the sadness. althlough at times they do come on a bit strong.

Then there are the show breeders who believe that they are the only ones that are fit to breed. They do not believe that some of us non show breeders also want to improve our dolgs and our programs, that we just do not care to show.

Let us not let our egos get in the way of giving information in a civil manner.

With all due respect, I think maybe that was in part to some of the questions you were asking. Some of the topics you chose to discuss when you first joined left a bad taste in people's mouths for a while.

I've seen many "new" breeders and members come on here asking for advice and getting an enormous amount of information and support. The issue generally comes when it seems as if the person is jumping into breeding without having researched and prepared themselves first. Yes, we all start somewhere--the difference is what you do to educate yourself before you start...whether you research, talk to and learn from other breeders, etc, or if you jump in blindly assuming you can just pick it up as you go.

I understand what you are saying. I just feel that ALOT of the "newbies" on here just come on here to find out certian things so they can breed and it would be a tottaly different story if they were asking the right questions, and tried to get all the answers and help they could, but half the time that is not the case. You can tell bc they ask 1 question they get the answer and that is the last we see them..thats what gets my panties in a bunch. I think it is great that if you want to get into breeding for the right reasons and you could come on here to get some advice.. I also think breeding has a lot to do with the person. I dont think everyone has it in them, if you know what I mean. I tell you what , I could never do it. People wanted me to stud my male out bc he is small and so cute and I never wanted too, he was neutered at 4 months. So I understand what you are saying, but it is really hard when I see people on here abusing knowledge of all the great breeders on here. So maybe its like "your damned if you do and your damned if you dont"

No. I am referring to my very first post when I joined and asked about breeding.

I was trying to learn, by asking questions and I got the same response that many still get. But other breeders most of them are not even here any more.

I wanted to learn and was determined enough that I did not allow anyone to drive me off. I am stilllearning, but most of the replies on here now are not educational, they are egotistical and condescending.

They are informative, but many times the tone, clouds the message.

Many of these people are just wanting to learn from experienced breeders, but the threads turn into a battle ground over issues that have nothing to do with the OP's question. Like 7 pages over whether or not 12 pound dogs end up in rescues.

You make some good points. But many times the newbies don't even know the right questions, and they ask the wrong one, or ask the right question in the wrong way and the are tarred and feathered for it. The ones that get to me are those who ask a question and then argue over the answers.


I have been on the receiving end of those posts.

When I came on here, it was my first experience with a forum, I had no idea what they can be like, so I learned the hard way.

I asked some very controversial questions, and the more I tried to explain myself the worse it got. No one believed me. They were like a pack of wolves.

Well a few did, and they took the time to PM me with the answers. They did not want to answer mein the thread for fear of losing respect. So they did it privaely.

"Tone" is an impossible thing to determine when things are typed and not written. Maybe instead of worrying about who is using the appropriate "tone"--something which no one here reserves the right to control--people should worry about the questions being asked and the information and answers being given. Many of the responses you received were not because you couldn't adequately explain yourself...it was point blank because of some of the things you said that people didn't agree with. Also, it wasn't as "personal" as you seemed to have taken it. Any given person here--new or old member alike--would get the same kind of replies if they posted what you did with the same conviction behind their words.

Ha No one knows that better than me. I feel like everything I post needs a disclaimer.

I am very clam, in a good mood. typing very calmly with a smile on my face and a puppy on my lap. Nothing I say is in anger nor is it anyway meant to annoy, irritate or offend anyone. :D

LOL...that sounds like a good outlook to me. :thumbup: I think that there are lessons to be learned from any situation that comes up, any outlook or frame of mind one seems to have--both the good and the bad.

For what it's worth, there are many scenarios that have been discussed on here that YOU have really made me think about. Some things my opinions have been changed on because of YOUR posts. I could say the same thing for so so so many members here. Sometimes, examining another person's perspective on things is the best way to solidify or reconsider your own stance on things.
