If you can go to the Roving Specialty in TN the weekend of Oct. 30th you will really get a treat! Is this one you will attend?

Treat isn't the word....I was awe struck.....all those gorgeous dogs and great breeders that I had only seen pics and read about.

I know!! This is when the eyes wide open and jaw drop is a perfectly normal way to look. My dogs have gone (and won WB/BOW, also a Reserves), but still I have not been to one Specialty. Can you impage that? All the years in yorkies and not one Specialty!!! Man! I was going to try to go to this one, was asked to go and intorduce one of my girls, but looks like I may have other plans. I may try and sneak away on Sat. to watch though.

We dont have anything going on that weekend and we live right by the new I22 corridor that goes straight to memphis, its about 3 1/2 hours I think... hmmm... :)

The first time I went to NY, I didn't have a dog yet. My mentor felt it was best to go and learn the first time. The 2nd time I went my girl placed first in 12-18 month. Talk about on the ceiling. And I didn't even see it. I could never watch when she was in the ring....I would go behind a pole or outside.....Lorraine turned to Lee and asked where I was, Lee told her, she never watches....Lorraine asked Lee why she sold such a lovely bitch.....Lee told her you can't keep them all.

My first time in NY I went without a dog as well. Mary, you were kind enough to stand ringside with me and guide my eyes. It was a fabulous experience and cemented my desire to show these beautiful creatures. Thank You.
I'll be back with something fabulous someday.

I remember that too. But, I can't remember whether I had Tahlulah or Denny.

Ahhh! Wackie Tabackie, or better known around here as the Prom Queen. Tahlulah just became a mother for the first time. What an ordeal, she has lived up to her Prom Queen personality during this process. She has wanted everyone's undivided attention, special foods, hand fed, you name it she's demanded it.

I am finding this post so interesting and timely for me. I just came back from my breeder/mentor after seeing 2 potential show bitches. I am leaning toward one, but we are waiting for her to grow out a little more. I have a pet yorkie from this breeder I got over 1 year ago. I fell in love with her dogs and have been going to the shows in the Northeast since Westminster and the NY shows last February - most definitely the best education, besides your mentor, is seeing a big specialty and the shows. You get to see, watch and learn from people "at the top of their game." I am really looking forward to this year and learning even more about genetics and pedigrees. Hopefully, I will meet some of you at shows or in NY.

The videographer for the YTCA and YTC of Greater New York did a live webcast of the NY special last year - he will probably do it again this year for those of you who can't make it but have time to tune in.
