Is she pregnant??? I had to stay in the hospital from july 15 through the 30th. My female went to stay with my sister who has a male dog. When I got out of the hospital I noticed that my female was in heat. My sister said that they were seperated the whole time but about two weeks ago I noticed my female gaining a little weight, her vuvla was still a little big with clear stuff coming out, and she has milk. I figured it was a false pregnancy so I just watched her for a while but then a week ago she started nesting alot and staring at me so I took her temp and it keeps going up and down. I took her to the vet and he said that he don't feel anything and that he thought it is a false pregnancy too and that she will be fine. The thing is now she won't eat that much and when I was rubbing her belly I felt it get tight and milk came out. Monday I am going to take her for an X-ray but I was just wondering if there is a chance that the vet was right or maybe my sister lied and she is carring only one puppy? |
How were the dogs separated? Since you dont know for sure if she is preggers, you should probably treat her as if she was and be prepared. Its highly possible that she is having a false pregnancy if your vet suspects it. It would be a good idea to get an x-ray though to be sure. I think at this point you should be feeling movement or hearing heartbeats if you listen with a stethoscope. |
I had a girl go in heat about a month ago and I know she did not get with a male. She has milk pockets and has gain weight. Her vulva is still swollen as well. I also had one back in July I thought was because I breed her a few times. She gained over a pound, got the milk pockets, was still swollen so I took her to the vet for an xray and no pups. This girl went as far as to nest with her toys in my laundry hamper and growled at everything that went by. After a few days after she would have been due she was back to normal. Even with that said since you were not with her the whole time I would go get her checked again to make sure. If she is a bigger female 1 could hide in there. I always say it is better to be safe. My vet keeps my chart out on top of the filing cabinet because I run in there so much about everything..lol |
