"Joy of Breeding Your Own Show Dog" Hi: This is probably old news for many of you, but just in case, like me, you didn't know, "The Joy of Breeding Your Own Show Dog" has been reprinted and is available from Amazon. If you're not familiar with the book, it was written by a gal who breeds Yorkies and the information includes really good stuff that's specific to toy breeds. I was loaned a copy when we had our first litter of Yorkies and just figured I'd buy my own only to find out that it was out of print and was going to cost me over $100. Believe me, I thought seriously about it. I ordered one today. I'm so happy! CJ |

Thanks for the tip. I am not a breeder or a shower but I love reading all I can about yorkies!! |
  Yep -- I bought the electronic version about a week to 10 days ago and love it! Very easy to read -- didn't want to put it down. I'm about to go through it for a second reading. You always get a few more things out of a book the second time around. |
I just bought books last night from amazon.com. I seen that book but decided to get it some other time!! That one is definetly on my list of books that I MUST read!!! The other books I got are "The Complete Book of Dog Breeding", "Breeding a Litter", "Control of Canine Genetic Diseases", and "Genetics: An Introduction for Dog Breeders". I guess you can tell that I would really like to be a breeder someday!!! :p |

CJ PS I sent an e-mail to my friend today to make sure she knew it was out again and she just replied letting me know it had been out for about a year. So, again, I'm one of the last to know!!! |
I LOVE the chapter on genetics!!! Even on the first read through the information, I was able to grasp a good bit of what was being said and explained. It really helps a person to understand the true mechanics of breeding bitch "a" with dog "f" -- its not a matter of just putting two dogs together out of convenience. There is a real science behind mating pairs. :) Lisa |
