Need Help, How tell if my Yorkie Minnie is Preggers? Hi, everyone. My yorkie tied with my boy yorkie 5 weeks ago. She was in Heat. What are the signs??? She's been lazy, she's gain some wait, but i can really see a tummy. I do hear strange noises inside her tummy. She been kind of moody tours the other pets. Someone please explain. Thanks |
how old are your yorkies and how big are they |
If you saw them tie, odds are that she is pregnant. Not trying to be rude, but why would you breed her if you don't know the answers to these most elementary questions about breeding?? |

If you were aware that she tied and that the possibillity that she is preggers exsists, then these are answers you should have started researching 5 weeks ago. (Or better yet, before she was bred.) Sorry, but I can't with a clear conscience answer the question without first pointing out how incredibly irresponsible this is. At this point, it's going to be hard to judge for certain if she is or isn't. There could be physical changes that would indicate that she is carrying a litter, but those same changes could just as easily be the result of a false pregnancy. Your best bet is going to be to assume that she is and treat her as such. When she is further along (around 50 days) you need to take her to the vet for xrays/sonar to confirm that she is expecting and to give you and your vet a good heads up if the pups look like they may be too large to deliver, which will mean a c-section. |
Thanks Thank you everyone. I wasnt trying to breed her, i had them separated, but my husband let her out of her room, and they you know (did there thing) ill take her to the vet tomorrow. Thanks again |
Can I recommend something? In July, I purchased a great book by Muriel Lee called The Complete Guide to Whelping and Rearing Puppies. I also have been lurking and researching these forums for information along with the internet. Although I have not bred my babies, I am becoming educated in what to expect, complications, etc. Hope everything works out for you at the vet, keep us posted! :D |
No Reason to be Rude, I wasn't trying to breed her. I joined this website to get some answers, not to be treated harshly. Thanks |
Thanks for your advice! I can't wait to find out! Have a wonderful day!! |

There is another thread Litters in October? where a few of us are expecting litters in October. If your dogs tied 5 weeks ago you would take her into the vet Oct 5-9 for x-rays. Thats a week before she should be due, the puppies bones are becoming more calicfied so they will be easier to see during that time frame. Check out that thread and you'll see how our girls have been acting and how their bellies are growing. I take my girl on the 7th for her x-ray to see how many she is carrying. I realize that this was not a planned breeding, so I hope that you can take the time to catch yourself up on everything about breeding, whelping, pregnancy signs, and taking care of the pups and mom afterwards. Its going to be hard to squeeze in that amount of research that many of us have done over the past year(s), to somewhat know what we are dealing with. Its a constant learning experience, so take this chance as one. Good luck to you and I hope you find a lot of information on this site and others that will help you along. |

Best of luck today and hope everything is fine with Minnie |
Pregnant I bred my Yorkie four weeks ago and was told I would be able to tell by now if she was having pups. I can not tell. I think she might be a little bigger in the belly but it may be wishful thinking. Without xrays how can you tell? |
I was told that if she is pregnant her vulva and tits will stay slightly swollen.. check her for that, also did she showed any morning sickness, I am not to sure about that one my Taffy did not ... if she did not take her vulva and tits should be back to normal by now, other than that you have to have a sonogram or wait for when she is about 53 days and take her for xrays.. |
