I posted on the other thread you started. I wish the best for you and this little pup but personally, I wouldn't keep my hopes up. Sometimes, it's for the best. :( |
Kimberly Kimberly..we can always count on you to find the best info in print...thanks |
We will be keeping this pup if she makes it...I can't see anyone else giving her the care that I can..( I've grown quite attached to the little misfit) I don't even let my husband feed her...currently she is at 8 oz so she is thriving...the main thing I worry about now is her getting sick from fluid in her lungs....plus our family has all had colds .....thank you for all the responses and advice!!!!! |
The artical on cleft was awesome...thank you so much...Yes my little pup has a hair lip and a partial cleft.....it is missing a small portion by the gum line...the only time I see milk coming out of the nose is if she chokes.....she is feeding so much better now that is gives me some hope although she does have her moments...like she will start chivering, don't know if it is because she lost body heat to fast or is something else is going on....but she is very active and is gaining weight every day and improving on her eating habits....she takes about 1 tablespoon (sometimes less) about every three hours....it has helped to burp her ...because of the cleft lip she doesn't have the suction, she can't wrap her lips around the bottle....I have tried to syringe feed her but it seems to make her choke and gulp more air so I have gone back to the bottle...I do have to sqeeze the bottle to make the milk flow so it has been trial and error on the right pressure of the bottle so she doesn't choke....I just want to say thanks for all the concern and advice. I am so glad I found this web site, it has been sooooo helpful....thank you to everyone for all your comments and concern.....now I need a name for this little one....something that fits her to a T...any help with this???? |
by the way..she is up to 8 oz as of this morning...... |
Go little grow up big and strong! So glad to hear she is thriving with your care. |

Aww I hope ur little one makes it and get really strong. I will be praying for her. Hey theres a name Hope? |
Good luck with the baby. I hope she does ok. |
Just a quick note....my little one is up to 9 oz this morning.....on th ename thing...my husband wants to name her "lippy" I told him he needs to work on his sense of humor....I am thinking...."Tory" which means <winner> or Matty which means <strong fighter> or Ajani which means <he who wins the struggle >"anni" for a nickname any thoughts on these... |
cleft pallatte We have decided on a name for our little one....Elizabeth Myeisha KT...elizabeth stands for "Consecrated by God" and Myeisha means "One who is loved greatly".....KT is for my kids Kelsey and Trevor. Her eyes also opened up yesterday...She sure is a cutie...will be posting pictures hopefully soon...as soon as we can figure it out...Should I be worried now that her brother weighs..1lb 5oz He weighed 6oz at birth.....her sister weighs 1lb3oz...she weighed 5 oz at birth.. |
