Pup died - tragic - (accident or killed) ? 3 Attachment(s) My Maisey had 5 gorgeous little pup, 3 boys 1 girl, sadly when i came home from been out for 1 hour, i found one of the little boys dead! Blood around him. I was heartbroken, and after tidying up, wondered how this had happened. Seeing Maisey pic up a pup that had wondered a bit too far, (she grabed it and picked it up and put it close to her. Im wondering if the pup had fell out, and she was trying to pick it up, couldnt do it because the pup is alot heaver and bigger 10 weeks old and very chunky. I assumed thats wat must have happened. Ive got a newish dog, Stella ive had her for 5 weeks, is a nice dog, sweet, gentle very obidient, and loves her exercise when out, chasing rabbits especially. I only found out yesterday that she had come from a Farm! - immediately alarm bells, as knowing now why she was so eager to hunt. Im thinking through watching them this evening, and knowing Stella loves her food and is greedy, that she has gone to Maiseys food (which i stupidly left near the bed) tried to get the food when the pups has fallen out of the bed, and Masiey grabbing the pup away. ... oh i dont know, i just feel SO BAD that its happened and i been an experienced and caring breeder, alowed it to happen. Ive now got Stella (Farm dog seperated and will stay seperated) not going to let her take food,,,,,she is so greedy. And keep a close eye on Maisey and Stella a Maisey is squaring up to fight with Stella so in know something has gone on between them two. Thanks - Ps sorry if ive gone on ..... |
I'm sorry for your loss. I have ten week old babies right now and I always try to put them in the room where I keep my older dogs at about nine weeks but every time I try to put these ten week old babies in with them after awhile, they attack them and nearly killed one just a few days ago. they thought they were playing and when the pup started squealing, they attacked for the kill. I would be inclined to say one of the other dogs killed it on purpose. mom's don't generally try to pick ten week old puppies up and move them. |
I'm so sorry for the loss of your pup:( |
Thanks Yes thanks for your comments.... i believe to that Stella done something, it looks as if the pup was sadly 'ragged' abit as there was blood in a few places. I now something has gone on with Stella as she cringes away from me, (i certainly do not hit my dogs) so she knows she has done something bad... thats wat im thinking by her actions,,, she has killed the pup. Definately seperation now and will keep her well away from pups when they are moved to the crates downstairs in the home. My other dogs, dad and aunty have always been excellent with the pups in the past and its been 8 years, eventhough i would keep supervison. Bitches ..... its the word for them! thanks again x |

I meant to ask also.....are there any other dogs in the house that would have had access to the puppy? |
Awwww I am so sorry to read your post! I have 10 week old puppies and there is no way my momma could pick up the pups now, nor do I think the pups would let her. I hope all goes well for you. |
For little dogs they sure can carry alot of aggression. 4 of my adult girls jumped my Mia (1yr) as part of a pack attack I guess. Lucky I was with them to save her. I had to use the broom to get them off her. As it was they broke her leg in 2 places lol. They can be sweet and loving but when it comes down to it they have every instinct a larger dog or any dog has. Mia is fine now thank goodness but cannot play with the adult girls. Sue |
