How long should I wait for x-rays? I went to the vet last Monday and she thought she saw three pups just starting to calcify. Told me to come back and she would do another x-ray as it got closer to determine size. At that time she thought she was about 50 days. So today Iestimate she is 56-57 days. This morning at 3:00 am her temp was 98.3 and at 8:00 98.1 and her nipples are begining to sag and I think fill with milk but she is not leaking. Other than that no other signs of labor. Do you think I should take her in for another x-ray now or wait or not at all? Thanks |
X-raying is just a matter of preference. I have been raising yorkies for over 12 years and never had one x-rayed. Personally, I think it is too stressful taking the expectant momma out that close to delivery. If the momma gets too hot or stress out it can effect the unborn babies. Whatever you decide I do wish you the best of luck. |
signs of milk! mean anything? Sorry to post yet again but Lacey temp is staying constistant around 98.1 and I was able to lightly squeeze some milk ouy of her nipple. Could this mean she can go into labor soon? |
I always have x-rays done at 50-53 days... Not sure of the vet's purpose in wanting to do them that much later. With your female less than a week away from her due date, she is getting to the point that if it were me, I would not risk anything out of her normal, calm routine, which would include car/vet trips. |

I think she wanted to do them again because she said they were just starting to calcify and she wants to recheck thier size since we don't know the size of the dad. But I was thinking that it might be to stressful. |

I know the temperature being down really worries you. I would get her to eat and give her some nutri-cal and then wait an hour and see if her temperature has come back up. Personally I have learned you cannot depend on the temperature drop. I have had females deliver when their temperature was 100 degrees. I have also read that often the low temperature is due to a faulty thermometer. |
