Whelping suppy list and whelping pudding? Any one have a good whelping kit list? And could someone please tell me what whelping pudding is? I have people refer to this I am clueless. Thanks |
Off the top of my head alcohol with hemostats soaking in it, heating pad, towels, garbage can, flash light, lamp, gloves, leash, laundry basket lined with sheets/towels in case a trip to vet is necessary, purse, car keys, phone, vet and emergency vet numbers, pad and pencil, diet coke, camera, scale (I use a gram scale), suction bulb, nutrical, betadine, a pick me up for mom (vanilla ice cream, broth, whelping pudding, etc). I have seen lists of kits online that might be good to use. |
don't forget the unwaxed dental floss, betadine and clositol |
scissors for cutting the cord too |
I got nutrivet when my pup needed extra ump from my vet. I think but wanted to make sure that it is the same and I could use it if needed instead of the nutrical? CHristina |

This karo syrup...... I have what they call light is is clear in color but what I am not sure about is on the bottom of the label in fine print is mentions with real vanilla. Is this the right one or are there other types ? Could you use something like the egg beaters for the yolk. I have seen egg yolk only. or is it best to use the yolk from an actual egg? And does anyone know how long this mixture will last in the refrig? Thanks |
yes that is the one i used when taffy had the babies.. and I used real egg yolks.. I am not sure if too many preservatives on the other stuff.. |

Whelped a few and assisted in a lot...each one is different. Larger breeds and I guess horses would be easier. At least you can gets some hands up there and get them into place.....these little girls, if they get into trouble, because a pup is in the canal cross wise or decide to travel up the horn, instead of down, , too big to pass through, or gets it chin caught on it's mother's pelvic bone...the only thing that you can do is get her to the vet for a C-section. |
