More Questions!! As I am trying to pull myself together, and prepare for this litter after Macy & Thom leaving us. I have So many questions left! And THANK YOU to all whom have been so patient and kind with me during all of this. :) I believe we are prepared as far as birth goes, we do have a vet on call, so if anything we cant handle arrises, we will run there! But the pups!? Dew claws and tails are my question at hand. Do you do them yourself, or go to a vet? Ive seen videos on how its done, but i dont want to mess anything up!! Advice?? Thanks! |
I have always had my vet do mine. Their are lots of YT'ers that do their own. I do not feel comfortable doing it myself. |
I have only had two litters (not me, my dog) and I would say let the vet do it. Especially since you haven't done it before. |

Good Luck and i know these babies will bring some much needed joy in ur life and ur kids!!! :) |
my Vet does it. I have one girl that the breeder did it and she has no tail at all now. It was cut so short I feel sorry for her. Her backside is smooth like she never had one. |
My hubby does them, but if you don't know exactly how to measure and are a bit squimish let your BIL vet tech do them. Just make sure that the you know exactly were the tail should be docked at. Measure it for him and let him do it. |
I have my vet do it, but he did show me step by step on how to do the dews so I think I can do them next time on the biewers. I have never done tails and since I am only planning on one more litter of yorkies - I may not want to tempt them at all even though my husband said he could do them no problem!! Dews look pretty easy, but then again my vet has been doing it a long time! LOL |
