If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.... I would not have believed it! I was hand feeding my new mother Maggie. She was standing up in her whelping box and the three week old boys walked over to her and started nursing. All of a sudden, one of the boys walked away from nursing and crawled over to the piddle pad I put in half of the box and PEED!!!!! Even Maggie looked down like WTH???? WOW! What a little smartie! I mean 3 weeks old! |
In my whelping box, I have a section marked off with a small entrance way for the potty room. My 3 week old litter did the same thing. It made it so much easier to potty train them. All of the buyers were very impressed about them. |
Yeah isn't it great! I pee pad all of mine by the time they go home and mine start early too. They are very smart!!! |

LOL, our little ones did it at 3 weeks old too! Our mama would never stay in the pen with them, and she goes potty outside, so I figured I would just start some early training with them myself. I figured it would never work, but they did it too at that early age! Good job, little one! Hopefully, his brothers will take after him!;) |
HeHeHehhh isn't that amazing ! Our puppies do it the same, take to the pad very early around 3... 3 1/2 weeks, as soon as they start walking. It makes it so much easier to potty train when you have a puppy that had a great start in life ! |
I WISH my puppies would do that!!! My puppies just like their mother think that pee pads are for shredding!!! I have taped the pads down and they still shred it! They will be moving from the kiddie pool to the xpen next week. I again will try taping down the pee pad with high hopes of potty training! |

I think you'd have better success with washable pee pads. The odor stays there, even though we can't smell it. Mine are all pee pad trained by the time they go home. They start in the whelping play pen. I line the entire pen with large, square, rubber padding (get them at WalMart in the physical fitness dept) then lay the pee pads on top of that. The wee ones take to it pretty fast. Then when they start going out into the kitchen, mom continues the training by herding them to the pad as soon as they're brought in. So, she does most of the training. |

So, the use it for going potty and for a toy - lovely! They have lots of toys, but for some reason the pad is the most fun. Our adult dogs don't go potty in the house, so the little ones miss out on that invaluable training. Oh, well, they have all figure it out before; these little ones will to. :) |
My Teddy was piddle pad trained but I like them to potty outside. He peed on everything white laying in the floor LOL The kids would pull off their socks and leave them and sure enough, he would pee on them. If someone dropped a papertowel, yep, he peed on it! So I finally bought piddle pads for him and still worked on going outside. Now, he mainly goes outside with My older girl and only uses the piddle pad when it is raining. I keep the piddle pad by the back door anyways for those nights they REALLY need to go. Now we have a new baby and she is doing good about going outside but also uses the piddle pad as well. She has had a few accidents but I usually catch her and take her outdide for a reminder :) WTG with their early training! I KNOW you will have happy mommies for sure! |

I've had some horrible experiences with the paper ones.....fishing fuzzies out of little nostrils is not a fun thing to do....plus there is always the chance of their eating the plastic and making them sick. |

I think I will try the SHAMWOW's because that is about what they are good for in my experience. I will order washable pads and try them when they arrive. I was hoping to potty train the pups before sending them on their way but I am losing hope. Hopefully the washable pads will renew my hope. If not then I am glad we have someone home to clean up every couple of hours. How often do you wash them? |

I wash in cold water, detergent, and BIZ (great for getting out stains) and add a cup of Baking Soday (great for taking out the odor). Now the pups can smell it, but humans can't. Your pups aren't quite 8 weeks yet. You have time......between 8 and 12 weeks of age is when the majority of training goes on. |
