New Kid to YorkieTalk has Litter of 10 - Need Your Tips & Advise
 
I perfer a litter of 2 or 3. I've been around the block a time or two but this is a new challenge in the life of this small professional breeder.
I've divided the puppies into groups of 5 for feeding. Supplementing the smaller babies. They range in size from 3.0 - 6.3 oz at a week old.
Violets intake has tripled, I have her on a high quality food, a few scrambled eggs and liver bits and lots of fresh water.
Please let me know if you have tips & suggestions.

Wow you are busy busy!!!! I have no idea anything about breeding, but I did want to say hello and welcome to YT!! I hope all the puppies and momma does well.

oh my! 10?!?! you are super busy!! I see you're in Bentonville, I'm in Fayetteville. I have absolutely no experience in the breeding world but wanted to say congrats and let me know if u need any help! I can't imagine 10 new babies!!!! {hugs}

Congratulations on the new litter. I know this was more than you expected. I pray momma and babies do well. It sounds like you have things pretty much under control. Just make sure mom continues to eat lots of food and make sure she is getting a calcium supplement.

Oh my goodness, TEN! That is amazing! How big are the mom and dad, if I may ask? I can't even begin to picture a yorkie with a belly full of that many babies. Good luck, you must be one busy lady. Let me know if you need help, I'm sure Roxie wouldn't mind being a wet nurse as she is only going to have one puppy ;)

I am curious of the same...
I once had a litter of 6 and that was a handful, so i bet you are super busy.
I supplemented with formula, same as you and extra food free fed mom for as long as she wanted and thankfully we had a big happy family...
I hope yours will be the HUGE happy healthy family !

Congratulations! That is amazing. I hope they are all doing well and would love to see pictures.

And I thought I had my hands full with the two boys in my current litter. :)

i too after seeing the pictures would suggest getting her on some calcium supplements...because they will drain her of it! i hope to see more pictures of them as they grow! hehe

WOW! 10 puppies! I am thinking back to the litter of 5, I just had here and trying to imagine it doubled. Boggling the mind! That is a puppy pile I would love to just nuzzle right in with. You will definately have your work cut out for you over the next few months. I'd offer to help if I was closer.

I was going to make sure you had her on calcium supplements, but that has already been listed. Other than that, all I can recommend is sleep when you can! ;) And don't hesitate to accept a little help.

I can't wait to see the pics of all ten of them romping around when they are about 6 weeks old. 10 puppies! That might just be a YT record! Welcome to YorkieTalk, you have definately made a lasting impression with such a grand entrance! Wishing you, momma and all 10 babies the best of health and happiness!

Shew, I agree! I have give 7 week old puppies right now and they can be a handful but so much fun! I can't even imagine 10!!! I LOVE the pictures though!

AMAZING!!! Congratulations on your beautiful litter of pup & thank you for sharing your news with us. It sounds like you are making good decisions on caring for this large litter; I sure hope you have help from family and/or friends. We would all love for you to keep us updated on news & pictures of this bit of yorkie heaven as they grow in the coming weeks/months.. Welcome to YT!

Congratulations on your litter of 10. They are beautiful. My girl Gina had a litter of 6 on the same day, August 3rd so they share a b-day together. How many boys? girls? Enjoy!

Wow... just wow! I have my hands full with five! I think i would go totally bonkers (from sleep deprivation) if I had a litter of 10!

I can't wait to see pictures as they all get older!

Thanks Mary for posting those precious pictures. I can't wait to watch
them grow. It's going to get a little crazy at home once they are free
to roam around. Fun day's ahead and lot's of work.

Oh my gosh!!!! That mama must have been humongous caring all those babies!!! Did you have any idea there would be so many?

We have 2 8 1/2 week old pups that are crazy and wild - I can't even imagine 5 times that!

I pray that everything goes smoothly and easily for all of you - especially mama dog. :rolleyes:
