maggie & oscar tie !!!!! My lovley maggie and oscar have tied at least four times they are both a year old i was keeping them apart but as i was at work my youngest son thought that they were missing each other and let them play!!!! i am affraid that it will damage her to have pups as this is only her second heat and she is a year old however she is very fit and very healthy lady please all advise greatly appreciated i have read and downloaded pages and pages of information but some more would do no harm. :) |
:confused:They accidentally tied four times in one day???? Your female is awful young to be having pups. I would keep them apart and pray the breeding does not take. It is not safe for the male or the female to be breeding unsupervised. |
How big are your they? Do you know the sizes of their parents, grandparents, etc? |

i understand that there is risks there she is a lovely wee dog who always makes me laugh when i see her waiting for me when i get home from work at night however i was wrong about both there weights the last time i put them on the scales was about 3 months ago and my husband just told me to weigh them again i was quite shocked but maggie is actually 5lb 4oz and oscar is 5lb they are both fantastic little dogs who have brought great joy to my family and we love them very much i have booked her in with our vet to get a good check up i will however do what he thinks is best for both of them thank you for the advice, oh i'm not the kind of person who would harm an animal in any way my little pets are quite spoiled but i would have it no other way :D |
I am sure by now you wish you would have stayed to your self. It is hard to take all the advise that is posted on here. Yes she is young but I know many breeders that say the second heat as long as the dam is in good health could breed. Now she is a bit small but I have also seen smaller. It is harder on them the smaller they are they can have more complications. I breed my yorkie on her second heat the lady that studded said it would be fine, she did great had 4 pups no problems. Some could say I was lucky. She was also 5.5 pds. Now what is done is done. I would say look in the breeders section and read as much as you can to be ready. I have had two litters and another one comming in 3 weeks and I still get nervious. Also contact your vet and get their help as well. Good luck I hope if she has pups all goes well. Dont be afraid to post when that time comes. Everyone will try and help you get through. Christina |
Thankyou Christina they are lovely pets he is now in jail for a few days they go to the vet tomorrow l hope all goes well for her she is in excellent health and very fit i spent a bit of time today when John phoned me to work downloading information and reserched a lot before i even got them i'll see what the vet says tomorrow. :) |
Up this morning maggie and oscar got breakfast he sniffed round her (supervised) but she did'nt want to know things seemed to be getting back to normal but she is spotting pinkish blood does this mean that the tie did'nt take?? :confused:oh it's 10.15 am here |

You didn't mention when the original breeding time took place. She may not have been ready to breed (not ovulating). The time length for a Season is 21 days: 1. First 7 days = swelling, pink and softening. 2. Second 7 days = showing color (bleeding). 3 Third 7 days = Breeding time = Color is fading to light pink, even brownish. Breeding takes place on the 10th & 12th place from the the first day of color. Conception doesn't ordinarly take place on those days but, when she ovulates. |

Again, I don't believe for one second that you meant any harm, but the situation is not ideal and obviously it is upsetting for those who DO realize the dangers and risks involved to read and just sit back and ignore. As for advice, which is what you are requesting: make sure you have a vet that you feel comfortable with that is willing to help you. Your knowledge regarding the breed process seems very limted, judging from your comments/questions/assumptions so you will need to rely heavily on others to help guide you through the process. I would suggest that you find an experienced breeder willing to help you out and assist during the whelp. When momma nears her due date, she will need to be closely monitored at all times and will need to be in her environment where she is comfortable, so prepare for that in advance. Find a quality, high protein puppy food for her to eat now, if you have not already. Good luck. |
