Is there a recessive hair gene in YT's? :confused:I've done some research and found that some YT's can have a genetic trait that makes the hair break off faster than it should causing shedding, is this true? I ask since I have a YT frm a reputable breeder but it still hasnt come into its coat except for some fuzzy areas but doesnt have the typical fluffy coat. Could this be from the parents? One of her bros only had hair on half his body but it grew in and hers still hasn't. |
A hard silk coat is exactly as you describe. It grows slowly and tends to break off. |
Some yorkies can have genetic problems or health problems that would cause them to have a poor coat. Do you have pictures of the pup? |
I want to post but scared they may chase my poor little naked baby off the site. |
Any suggestions? Do you know someone who had this prob? She's a very picky eater so I want to see if the fatty acid or some type of supplements along with the fish oils i've been giving her will help. |

My Tenci's hair is thin, and for the past few months it has been breaking off. She has always had thin hair, but the breaking off is something new. My vet has ran tests and said they all came back normal. If it does not stop breaking off I plan to see a specialist with her. I am sure your baby is adorable no matter what. Please don't be afraid to post pictures. |
Bald and Beautiful! Thanks for all your support, it really helps. I didnt realize how sensitive I was (am) about my babies hair issues. :animal-pa |
