Need a mentor
 
Before anyone reads this and has negative feelings, let me first say 10 years ago I did breed my yorkie that I had, so I am not completely "new". However, I did NOt do the research I've done now, so I feel like a beginner! I thought the lady that brought her stud to my house would be my mentor. Now that we are less than a week away from due date, she has been unavailable even though I've sent numerous e-mails. Anyway, if there is someone out there that wouldn't mind me calling them if panic sets in....I would love to have support! :)
Just some info. to keep you up to date. My Maggie was bred her 3rd heat, she is 2 years and 4 mos. old. She weighed 4.6 lbs. The stud is 3.9 lbs. She has gained 2 lbs. X-rays were taken Monday, July 13th, which shows probably 4 puppies ( we saw 3 skulls and what looked like 4 spines). She is doing well. I have read everyting on here and I think I do have all the whelping supplies. I am just looking for moral support.

You'll have plenty of us on hand to be your coach......besides my response, you'll have many others helping you. I'll PM you with my number. I don't stay up all night, so a phone call from you would be the best option. When is her first due date and her 63rd date of her final breeding.

Sorry that you couldn't count on the owner of the stud.

Thank-you so much! I've read alot of your advice and was hoping you'd respond! Her first due date is July 24th and her 63rd day would be the 25th.

She came into heat on May 13th. She was bred May 22nd and May 23rd.

Let's just pray she doesn't go on her 58th day of her first breeding. I like them to cook a bit in the oven.....

When she starts contractions, Just post in the breeders section, in red, something like: Puppy Alert. The breeders will come out of the woodwork to help

Trust me I'm praying! My vet said to start taking her temperature on July 22nd. After you said this, I'm wondering if I should start NOW!

Naw! Leave her alone....That whole temperature thing is sometimes erratic, unless you're taking it three times a day, why put her under undo stress.

You could not have better help than Mardelin! My Bella whelped at the end of June at 2am and Mary was on the phone answering my questions. She is very helpful and reassuring. She has been a huge help through out the whelping and after! I wish you luck and for a safe whelp!

Just wanted to thank you all again! I know I have a week to wait, but it's very hard to concentrate on anything else! I just keep reading everyone's threads and you always have great information!!!

The waiting is the worst......you're no different than anyone else. You think and over think things and tell yourself, oh my what did I do. Perfectly normal.

We'll all pray for an easy whelp, keep your cool.
