Pedigree?
 
Ok I ordered the pedigree for two of my dogs and now I am thinking what is this for? I thought it would show if my dogs had any chamopion line in them. It is interesting but I would just like to know what they are used for.

It does help you learn what line your dog comes from, but mostly used if you are breeding.

the best way is to get the 5 gen. which you do online and can print it out. Does it show any champions?

Champions beyond the 3rd generation is meaningless. But, a 10 generation pedigree helps breeder/exhibitors when planning. Most know pedigrees backward and forwards. Offspring of offspring.

I got the 4 generation online to print out I didnt see a 5 unless I overlooked it.
So what you are saying is that if they were a champion it would state so?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. If you're breeding healthy, quality pet yorkies, pedigrees aren't that important. Just as long as there is no genetic history of health issues.

If they are canadian champions, it won't be on your AKC pedigree. I have a pedigree that almost every dog on the three gen is a canadian champion and I thought my breeder had lied to me when I got the AKC pedigree and it didn't show there. LOL

Stud dogs that have sired over three litters in one year or seven in a lifetime, have to be dna tested. That number will show up under the dogs name and AKC number. Some females are dna tested too but not required to be.

You DNA the dogs per AKC rules in case there is any question on the parentage of a litter. Some do DNA on our girls too.
