breeder that is giving out AKC papers to unregistered pups. Alright i been told i should post this by a few people and get some better answers. I think I know a breeder that has been giving out AKC papers! To people and their dogs that are not the ones registered. Is there a way to report them? or do something about this? it really upsets me |
The best thing is to call AKC. I don't see how she is doing that, unless she is listing that she is having more puppies than she is so she would have extar papers. ??? Not sure, tell more. |

AKC will inspect a breeder that has over so many litters in a year. When they come out they want to see the dog, how they live and all the paper work. They want to know where the puppies went. So I think you should call AKC and report her. |
You could report her but it would be better if one of the new owners of a pup would contact the AKC with suspicions that the parents on the AKC certificate aren't the parents. The AKc will request DNA samples from sire,dam and progeny. It is a simple test as you just use the swab in the DNA kit to swab the inside of the cheek to collect cells. If the breeder refuses to comply, AKC registration on questionable pups will be cancelled. |
It used to cost quite a bit of money to make a DNA complaint by an owner. If it is still $500, I would simply report them, AKC is good about looking into complaints. |

If people want to cheat then they will find a way. I once worked with a lady many years ago that claimed her dogs as her children when she filed her income tax return. It really messed her up when the government starting requiring social security numbers for all children. As for getting extra papers, it would be hard to prove anything there. She could be getting extra papers and then going out and buying pups that aren't registered and selling the as registered. If she marks the papers limited with no breeding rights then she would not get caught because the dogs she is selling would not be bred and therefore never dna tested. If she is giving out false papers and giving the people breeding right then it will catch up with her sooner or later but it could be a serious problem for the people that unknowingly bought her pups because their registration papers would be revoked. Unfortunately there are many dishonest people out there that will do anything to make a buck. |

They acquire puppies elsewhere, either bought cheap unregistered, bred unregistered ones themselves, or bred crosses. They will then register a litter saying a certain femaile they had was the dam of the litter and they use a registration name and number often for a male they had. They may no longer even have the mother or the sire quoted on the litter application. Sometimes they are ones spay/neuter in a pet home but never transferred ownership. Sometimes they will add a pup or two to a current litter born. |

It is very sad. And if they get caught and you have bought something for breeding from them, your registrations can get cancelled as well and you very well could have crosses without knowing it. I have seen more than one cross bred with either dam or sire being the yorkie, that you would be sure was a Yorkie but in fact was a mix. You also would not know what you had at all even if it were purebred as you would not know who the sire and/or dam is. |
I say, yes, report her -- if you are sure of what is going on. Just be very careful and only report on what you feel certain to be true. Yes im pretty sure she is doing this. I looked over my friends paper work she got with her yorkie and it just looks funny. She bought the dog from a woman she is not a breeder she just had a litter because she wanted to she said. The parents of the puppy looked to me like good looking yorkies and her puppy is good looking but she did lie about the size of him a bit. she told her he will be 2 pounds when he was like 2.8 at 19 weeks. the reason she got him was she thought he was going to be a certain weight when she got him and he is not. but anyway Her name was not on the AKC form nether was her husbands it was someones name she never heard before. And then someone elses name that was on the vet forms and she had him shipped and she signed for him to fly. It doesn't seem right to me. Three different people on all different forums. |
