Question about C-Sections I see that a lot of females have needed c-sections lately. I too have experienced it with my Shih-Tzu. I wanted to know if you have the female spayed at the time of the c-section. If not, do you let them try another pregnancy? Just curious how other breeders handle the situation. |
Just speaking for myself, I have only had one c-section in over 12 years of raising yorkies. That female was 5 lbs and had one large puppy in her. She had a c-section and the puppy did fine. I did breed her again later and she delivered two healthy puppies naturally. I have been told that it is best not to have the female spayed at the same time the c-section is done because they can bleed a lot more and it is more risky. It can also effect their milk production. |
Thank you so much. I appreciate all the feedback that I can get. My vet didn't spay my Shih-Tzu. I didn't know if they were suppose to or not. I was grateful that Ellie didn't need a c-section, she's the Yorkie. She delivered all 5 puppies naturally and was an excellent mother. |
Mine had a c section June 30th. One puppy's head was a little too big. I had her spayed at the same time. I was afraid for her to get pregnant again. I really say no blood at all anywhere. Not even much of a discharge. Nothing too noticeable. And I was paranoid and kept checking. lol she did come home on anti-biotics as well. |
thank you Thank you for the advice, I was thinking about the C-section and the spay at the same time for my keyla ( my yorkie). I will wait. thanks again!!! :animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa:animal-pa soryloveyorkies!!!!!!:aimeeyork |
