My Girl's last Due date was 2 days ago
 
Hi All,

My female yorkie's due date was the 27th. My vet has comfirmed she is pregnant and we can feel the puppies moving. I can even hear the heart beats.
She is producing milk since last Wednesday. I have called my vets on Saturday and Today. They do not seem concerned. Has anyone experienced this before. I have witnessed every breeding and do not keep my male and female together. I would love to hear some advice on this.

No need to worry yet. Just be ready for it anytime .

Have you start taking her temperature yet? If not start now.

Have she been licking herself down there a lot?

Do she have any discharge?

Don't let her outside alone to do her business. She will go a lot when she's about to give birth.

She has had the discharge last week, shaking, licking herself, and wanting me to hold her. She has been nesting too. She has a lot of milk.

Yes Been taking her temp since her first due date.

I thought I would keep you updated. She went to the vet today. The vet felt 2 puppies. She is still not ready. Vet told me she will give her 2 more days.

Now are you counting by the first tie she had? Did she have multiple ties on different days? Maybe that's why the due date is off?

I am usualy right on with my shihtzus on their due dates.
This is her second litter. She one boy 2 yrs ago.

I don't mean to be an alarmist, but with the recent losses lately, I was wondering /worrying how you overdue little one is doing.

As much as I stay away from the breeder section (cuz too many loss of mommys & babies:()...if this particular yorkie had a singleton...why would she breed her again?? The risk is too great for the baby to get too big inside of her & result in puppy being breech & ultimately having a c-section.
I really hope we'll hear some good news soon, but meanwhile, I'm staying out of here.

Just because a female has a singleton the first litter it does not mean the following litter will be a singleton. I have had about 5 or 6 singleton litters in the 12 years I have been breeding and only one resulted in a c-section, the only c-section I had in 12 years of breeding.

To the OP, I hope all goes well with the whelping. I have had females go 69 and 70 days before and they whelped with no problems. Since the sperm can live up to 5 day or longer, sometimes the female will conceive several days after the last breeding.

Hi All

What a busy 4th weekend I have had. Jasmine started to dialate then stopped. I took her to the vets and she a c-section. She has one boy.
He is alive and doing well. Jasmine devoloped a infection and ran a fever. I took her in Monday. She was put on Baytril and is doing better.
She will not be bred again. Here are some pictures of her boy.

First of all, I would like to apologize to you for being rash on my other post. I was upset at some other post couple weeks back where the mommy Yorkie was lost.
I'm so happy to hear that mom & baby is doing well. Sorry you had to go through such a hard delivery again & praise you for deciding what's best for your baby girl by not breeding her again. It seems that she's genetically predisposed to having singletons.
