what does "SANCTION B-MATCH" mean? i am thinking of taking milu to this event, but not sure what to expect. does anyone know?

I went to this event last year. It's basically a dog show but they also have fun events to enter like, cutest face, best dressed, etc.. They also have raffle prizes which were some really nice things. I won't be able to make it this time as we are expecting our first litter this weekend. If you have the time I would check it out. The people are really friendly, we had fun. Plus you get to see a lot of yorkies!

Sanction means sanctioned by AKC. A B match competition is a confirmation show intended for newcomers to practice handling their AKC registered dogs but you do not earn any championship points.

Just a hunch...but your dog. ;)

The extravaganza is the extra events she mentioned....best dressed, cutest, etc.

If Milu has been spayed she isn't eligible to participate in the confirmation event.

I would think you might need your akc papers if you have them and your shot records. We didn't compete so I'm not sure what you would need.

ah! i see. how about for dorky yorkie owners? i don't get championship points, but do i get brownie points? LOL :p

so this event is pretty much for show breeders who want to get their feet wet? not for regular yorkie owners? or it's for anyone who is interested?

It's for anyone interested in "getting their feet wet" in confirmation showing. Is Milu spayed? If so, she can't compete. If she's not spayed...you could enter her provided she's AKC registered. Was there a link provided with that info you found? Usually you have to sign up and pay for shows before the show date. In a regular show...points are earned depending on what your dog has won in the show...those accumulate towards their championship title.

If you decide not to do the match...the other events sound like fun. And we both know...Milu is CUTE.

milu's spayed. but it's kind of odd that they care about if the dogs spayed or not. i thought it's only kind of like a beginner's competition. like practice run for the real competition. so why can't all day dreaming yorkie parents (like myself) enter their s/n but darn cute dogs!? :p

A friend who intends to show her biewer...entered her in a similar type extravaganza...just to practice walking around the ring on a lead. Her puppy won cutest and has the ribbon to prove it.

did her puppy wear a formal dress, a bikini, or go naked? if the judges are mostly man, then maybe bikini or naked will give milu a better chance? LOL :p :p :p

Well the purpose of confirmation showing...isn't a beauty contest it's to prove breeding worthiness. You want to show a dog who is the standard or so close to the standard...it is the perfect speciman for breeding.

In a match were they do receive points...the animals are required to be intact, so the same rule applies in a AKC B match. The rules are the same...the only difference is no points are earned.

You can enter the "fun" competitions even if your spayed. I don't plan on showing my yorkies and I went anyways and had a great time. There are some real cuties out there! I think there was a small fee at the door, maybe $3 then it cost to enter your dog in the competition. You can register your yorkie at the door if you decide to compete in the fun competition.
