Then we waited for the dr. to come into the room, he put the x-ray on the light machine, and we talked about what we saw. :) My girl had two babies, and one was breech. The dr. said he doubted it would turn. Ironically, that baby did not turn; the other one did, and they both came out breech! LOL Good luck tomorrow! |
We're expecting our first litter at the end of this month. We had xrays on monday and it showed 4 babies. We can't wait! The xray process lasted about 10 mins. I'm not sure about the eating. Daisy doesn't have that problem, she is always eating! Good Luck! |
~You'll know how many babies to expect and if any are breech or not. Good Luck!!! Welcome to Yorkietalk. :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork :aimeeyork |

Even if it doesn't show any are breech, I would still do my research on how to help the mama (if she needs help) in case one turns and becomes breech. The vet said they don't usually turn 'unbreech' (haha, new word), and that puppy didn't. But the other one was head down for the x-ray, and did turn breech. Their x-ray was done on day 56 and they were born on day 59, so it must have been a tight u-turn!:p. Good luck today! |
Got the xray. Sadie is having four babies. Awesome! When I asked the vet could you tell if any could be breech? She said, they have not moved into place yet but it doesn't matter if they come out head first or tail first. I'm confused |

The head, the biggest part, usually makes for an easy way for the rest of the body to slide out. When the body comes out first, sometimes the mom has to work a little harder to get the bigger part, the head, out. When ours were breech, the mom didn't have to work much harder though. I had been told there's a little less time allowed for the mom to push the head out if it's breech, b/c the umb. cord gets compressed while the body is being squeeze at the entrance of the birth canal. From what I hear it's usually not a big deal. I as surprised how easy it was for our mama, b/c you can read and be told the worse case scenarios. I just read on how to help the baby out if it gets a little stuck, and it helped knowing that: not only b/c I needed to know it, but b/c it gave me peace of mind and the knowledge of what to expect. Believe me, I have very little experience at this. I have helped in a cow, a cat, and a dog delivery (and my own 5 kiddos, but that might not count in this case, LOL). Most people here have way more doggy delivery experience and knowledge than I do, but I just wanted to share what I knew. ;) |
Thanks for the helpful info. I as well am very new at this. While I look forward to this experience, I'm also nervous. Since I have announced the delivery date and how many, friends are texting me wanting a pup. |
