Male yorkie keeps trying to mount my female puppy? Hi, I have a 4yr old male and a 5mos old female. I've been away for two days with my female and just got back a while ago. My male usually doesn't care for anyother dogs to play with, he'd usually just play w/me and follows me around, but he's all of a sudden interested in my female. He keeps trying to mount her, and she just plays like a puppy would. I checked her to make sure she wasn't on her first heat cycle and there's isn't even the slightest pink. Can my male sense that she's going into heat? Or what can it be? Its really strange, because he's never cared for another dog, he'll slightly play with my female and my min. pin. but only for a really short couple of mins. Could my female be going into heat already? Anything will help, she's my first female puppy ever, I've always had males b4. |
Males can sense when a bitch is coming into heat before they start bleeding. Your female's vulva will swell before the bleeding begins. You may notice that her nipples become more prominent as well. Some small dogs really don't bleed much at all, so you may not notice when she starts bleeding unless you take some white toilet tissue and dab her down there. Make sure you go to great lengths to keep them separated! They must not even be allowed to play together. In fact, if you could let him stay with a relative or friend, that might be best. A pregnancy at this age would be extrememly devestating. |
I haven't seen any changes in her yet, her vulva is certainly not swelling the least bit. Maybe not yet, but wow isn't that really early for her? My min. pin. isn't showing the same reactions as my male yorkie, it's like he suddenly realized the puppy is a girl. I do have them separated. My Pearl roams the house while my Kiro and Phoenix are confined to a corner. I'll check her again in a week to make sure if she's going into heat. Thanks. |
