Whelping Pudding Questions
 
Those of you that give this to your mommies...how much, how many times a day and for how long?

Tammy,
I freeze the pudding in ice cube trays. Once frozen...I store them in freezer bags. After whelping...I offer them to the bitch at least 4 times a day. I thaw it out until it's like ice cream...and my girls usually lap it right up. After the bitch gets her appitite back...I use it as a supplement or treat. Freezing it makes it last much longer.

They played like crap!! :(

However, since they won game 5....they earned the right to a game 7 at home if they laid an egg tonight and a game 7 was needed. And yes...I am sad to say...it is now needed.

But the boys in red rarely loose at the Joe...so I am still hopeful they will win game 7 at home and win Lord Stanley's Cup for 2 years in a row!!!

i only give to mine once a day and I give a big heaping up tablespoon. because at another meal that day, I give a tablespoon of cottage cheese mixed in with her other food. i give it until the pup is being weaned aand mom is out from the pup most of time.

Thanks Dee and Karen!! I am going to have my hubby run into the store to pick up the ingredients after Livi's vet appointment on Friday.

Is this the recipe that you guys use?

16 oz. water
1 pkg. Knox Gelatin
(micro. to disolve)
15 oz. can evap. milk
2 tabls. vanilla yogurt
2 egg yolks
2 tabls. white corn syrup
mix all ingred. in bowl let set in fridge
until thickens. Spoon out as needed.

I tried it ONCE and it was nasty plus, I don't want my dogs eating raw eggs. The one I use is much simpler. I small box vanilla pudding and pie filling (the cook kind)
2 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar and
two beaten egg yolks.
cook until thickens then cool to room temp

Thanks Dee...I have never seen this recipe before. Have any of your females ever gotten upset tummies from the pudding?

I saw a recipie similar to that recently and it was listed under recipies to help bring in mom's milk.

no and my girls love it. I also mix it in the pups food when weaning. I give it to my girls until they are weaning the pups. It was given to me when I had my first litter by a long time show breeder that I have trusted for years. I have passed it around on here many times and the folks that have used it seem to like it better. i like it because it is much easier to make. LOL
