I just now saw the newest pic of your little Mommy!! BLESS her heart!!!! and your s too. I cant even imagine how scary this is for you. I am still keeping my fingers crossed and now even my toes for a safe whelp! Looking forward to hearing the good news of how many new pups and that all are doing well including you:animal36! |
Just checking in to see how she is doing this morning. She looks like she is going to have 4 + pups. Hope everything goes smooth with the whelping. |
I think we are on our way! Thanks everyone! I think we are on our way as we definately have nesting going on and throwing up bile. I have not been 100% happy with my whelping box set up as I am afraid the babies will get chilled. I was going to go to the stor and get her a storage container so they won't get draft but ow am not sure if I should move everything. What do you all think. I know the way it is I will have a challange keeping the babies warm. :aimeeyork |
Oh boy PUPPIES!!!!! If she is happy, I wouldn't disturb her -- I would wait until the whelping is over, you are sure that everyone is healthy, well nursed and content, and then you can fuss over the whelping box. If you give her some extra blankets she will make a nest and keep the pups warm with her body heat until you can decide what you want to do. Let's get this show on the road!!!!! :D:D:D |

1 Attachment(s) Sounds like it not going to be to long now. You can go ahead and let her whelp with what you have and after pups are here then get a warmer box. I bought the totes with the lids and cut a hole in the front for mom to go in and out. They seem to stay warmer and no drafts. I can just lift the lid to peek in on the babies. Here is one mine ....They like to sleep in them too. |
ahhh I cant wait to hear how it goes!! good Luck!!! |
I love that pic with your little girl looking out of the box! Too cute. I do have the heating pad and everything ready to go but because it is so hot hear the air is always on and it is drafty in this room so I am worried. I can make it warmer but if I can keep them out of the draft and still be able to keep the air going it would be better all around I think. She's quiet right now. A little nesting here and there but lots of laying and just looking pitifull. I have closed the doors to the family room to keep it quiet and keep the other 2 out and make sure she doesn't get riled. I think after a while I will take her out of the pen and set us up on the couch and automen to wait it out. |
You can run the a/c with no problem. As long as you don't make it freezing cold they will be find. They will huddle with each other and the mom. I keep the room temperature around 75 to 76 degrees. I put the whelping box in a x-pen and hang sheets over the sides of the x-pen to keep any breeze out. |

It's just one of the box totes he like to sleep and play in..;) |
Well it sure sounds like she's on her way maybe. Do we dare hope for a day whelp.....we can hope.:xfingers::) I'm home for the rest of the day, so I sure will stay tuned to this thread. I hope she starts soon and gets through the whelp trouble free. Prayers :hands: still coming your way. Agreed....if you've got the heating pad, for sure that will be fine in giving the pups some added warmth. If you are still concerned due to the AC being on, then the sheet draped over the area suggested by bjh is a great added option. I'll have to remember that one myself. |
Well, hmmm, let's see. I'm gonna bet she has 6 going on in there. Possible 7. Am I nuts, lol. Anyway, that's my thoughts. Carol and Jemma |
Just checking in.. Sounds like it may be day 61. Good luck and let us know if we can help. |
