9 weeks after whelping millie is on season 9 weeks after whelp, can she be firtile so soon? not that i want to breed again so soon, i would like to wait till next year now. i believe some dogs can experience seasons every 3 months but are not fertile on each season. |
that works out at a 4 month cycle? I'm lame at math but i got it at that (last season before puppy time+ time after).. our girl is the same and yes she could get pregnant.. well our Lucy did .. she is in being spayed today |
yes, she can be fertile but I would not breed her. One of my dogs do the four month cycle and I do not breed her when she has just had babies. It is too hard on their little bodies, what with carrying babies and nursing then and etc. |
Hey Dee i have a question (not trying to take over the thread) but have you ever seen a female switch heat cycles? My gidget used to go every 9 months, well she went 6 months this time (and we had babies, earlier then i had planned :) ) Quote:

Tammy, if my girls come four months after whelping, that makes them six months and I won't breed them then either. I skip that one. I just feel it is too much wear and tear on them. But now,if they are six months dogs and haven't been bred, then yes I breed them. |
