How to ship a puppy Not too sure if this would be the right place. Can someone give me some information on how to ship my puppy? Where do I call and who do I go through and what is the process? If you could give me anyother information it would help. Thank you |
Are you buying or selling a puppy. If you are buying the puppy, the breeder will handle it for you. If you are selling a puppy, you have to get your buyer's address and phone number then call the airline of your choice and book the flight. then you will need to get a health certificate from the vet a day or so before the dog is shipped. |
I have had pups shipped to me, but, now that I'm going to get in to breeding, I won't be shipping. Someone can fly to get the pup and take it back in business class or I myself will fly a puppy to the new owners at their expense. It's actually sometimes cheaper to have the person fly to pick up the pup, and this way they don't have to fly in cargo where it's so loud. I always think of that plane accident in the Hudson river in NY a few mos back, wondering if there were any animals in cargo on that flight. |
The main thing I look for is a DIRECT flight. I would never ship a dog that had to change planes, or land someplace, wait, then take off again. That's where problems shipping dogs arise. Get them on a direct flight only or fly in and pick up the puppy yourself and bring it back in coach. |
There are also transporters who fly puppies to their new owners. I also read that there is an airplane service that flies only puppies. |
Thanks everyone, the person decided not to buy him but this will help me if I ever need it. Christina |
