Congratulations of your/Tink's 4 healthy puppies and way to go for you on your successful assistance on the difficult one; was it stuck because it was a large pup? We're hoping you'll share some pics of the new little family once you've all gotten some rest. Congrats again.

I'm a newbie-58 days and nervous
 
I haven't found my way around this site yet but give me time. My babies first time and last night I found a boodly discharge with green mucus on my white bath room rug. Should I be concerned? Should I call the vet? Forgive me if I'm in the wrong thread as I am very new. I hope and pray that help is on its way. What little I have read you all are wonderful and I am grateful.

It would have been better for you to start a new thread but I can tell you that you should be concerned. How far along in her pregnancy is your expectant momma? How is she acting? Have you taken her temperature?

Sadie is 58 days today. She seems to be ok moving slow not eating much of anything. She just wants me to hold her and rub her belly.

I really do recommend you call your vet. Have you taken her temperature? Does she still have the discharge? Do you feel the puppies moving. She could have a detached placenta and that would cause her to loose a puppy. Better safe than sorry. How big is your female?

She is 6 lbs. No more discharge since earlier this morning. Have not taking temp. Nesting area is ready. I appreciate you speaking with me and I'll figure how to start a new thread soon. I can feel the pups moving inside. The x-ray last week showed 4 little ones. I'm very excited but very new this this. I got my beautiful yorkie in 2005 and have fallen in love.

I really recommend you take her temperature. It will serve as a guideline as to what is going on. If she loses a puppy and infection sets it she could get sick really fast. A temperature over 103 would be an indication of that. Most of the time their temperature will drop to 98 to 99 about 12 to 24 hours before the labor starts. A normal temperature usually runs 100 to 101.5.

I just called the vet, said not to worry about the discharge that it was a sign of her getting close. They also told me last week not to worry about temperature. but I am leaving right now to get more supplies so that I can get her temp. Thanks for the helpful information. I certainly would rather be safe. I'll keep in touch!

I can't imagine a vet saying not to worry about the temperature. I can also tell you from 12 years of breeding experience that blood and a green discharge before having pups is not normal. Please don't leave you little girl alone for very long this close to her delivery. I do hope you keep us posted on how she is doing.

Temp is 99.1. Yes, not only my local vet but I called another vet as well, both said not neccessary. Thats these Gulf Coast Mississippi Vets.? I am concerned now, so I will stay with her at all times.

Keep in mine she could still have several days to go. Has she been eating? Do you have Nutri-cal on hand? Sometimes if they have not eaten their blood sugar will get low and that will cause them to run a lower temperature.
