Biewer Registries... Ive seen some talk here and there about this. So im curious, what are all the US registries for Biewers? After googling it i found so many! Which ones are legit, ect? I want to have my boy registered here... And as i see in his pedigree, there are MANY purebred yorkies in his line. Is this normal? (Im assuming because AKC usually has TR in the reg # and thats what i see...) |
If you are importing your Biewer from Germany then yes, it is common to see Yorkies in the lines as many German breeders still believe in breeding back to the Yorkie. There are many good Biewer breeders here in the U.S. now so importing isn't as neccessary as it used to be. There are several U.S. registries available...the BNR, BYA and the BBCA are a few that come to mind but there are others too...I just don't know all the initials! |

Just wanted to note that BBCA is a Biewer Club, the BBIR is the registry :) |
How are the parents registered? Was the litter registered? |

Just wondering if a Biewer can be registered as a yorkie with akc and as a biewer with the biewer registry, since some have alot of akc yorkie in the background. |
Biewers cannot be registered as Yorkies in the U.S. They are not tri-color Yorkies or Parti-Yorkies. Biewers can be registered here in the U.S. with any of the Biewer registeries or back in Germany. |

If someone breeds an AKC yorkie with a Biewer...the puppies cannot be registered with the AKC. The AKC would consider this nothing more then a mixed breed. However, these same pups can be registered as a yorkie or a Biewer (depending on color) with many of the German registries such as the IBC. Hypothetically...you could breed your AKC parti male to a Biewer female. All the resulting pups would be tri colored. So the IBC would register them all as Biewers. If you breed a Biewer to a tradional AKC yorkie...all the pups would be splitters (tradional colored yorkies who carry the piebald gene) and the resulting pups would be registered with the IBC as Yorkies. Hope this helps. :) |

Are you planning to breed your little guy? How was he sold to you? Who is your breeder and how do they register their dogs? |

I have been given full registration of him. His breeder uses IBC. We arent overly concerned with breeding at this point. He is still a baby! I was just curious on the other registries here :) |

My recommendation to you would be to join a Biewer forum/group, study pedigree's, study health concerns with the Biewers and get into the show ring before you even consider breeding your boy. These are beautiful and exciting dogs but it is just the beginning of these dogs and you cannot make the same decisions you would a Yorkie if you are going to be a reputable breeder. Have fun and enjoy all the wonderful learning you are going to have to do with your beautiful Biewer. |
