Question regarding Rehoming Pups.... I am just curious, I am always very careful when selecting a new family for my pups. I have read on here, people specifying that if a new owner can no longer care for the pup, the breeder wants the pup back to re-home. I would want that too, my question is, "Do you refund the $$ of the purchase price of the pup when taking him back from the new owners?" I am not IN this situation, but was curious as to how that all works. Thanks! |

I don't really know but I was thinking of making a contract which states the pup would be agreed to come back to me if they re-homed him or her. I don't know how you would really enforce this sort of thing, but if the people where honest you could expect them to call you if they were going to get rid of the pup. You never know who is really stupid enough to take the pup to a shelter to get rid of it.... I guess you would get more people actually giving you the pup back if they were going to get some money back. I wouldn't give full price back but the more your agreement states the better chance you'de have. |
I have that written in my contracts when I sell a baby. I make people very aware of it when we go over the contract. The whole point as far as I am concerned is that if you came to buy a puppy from me I am trusting you to provide a safe healthy loving environment for that baby. If for whatever reason your situation changed and you can no longer provide these things than it is in the best interest in the puppy to bring it back to the breeder. This is what we do and I think I am in a better situation to decide what is best for the dog. Most people that don't want their dogs anymore really aren't interested in getting all their money back they just want out of the situation. I always tell people that if I have to take a puppy back or one is voluntarily brought back I will give them the money that I make reselling the puppy. We certainly don't ever want ot hear one of your babies wound up in a pound or tossed from home to home. |
