breeding a larger yorkie with smaller one I have a 9-lb yorkie that I am trying to breed with a 5-6 lb yorkie and it doesnt seem like the male can reach, is this something that the dog can overcome, or is help by human friends needed for success? |

I have to always help my boy. I fold up a rug to give him height. I also hold the girls back legs together so he won't under shoot. It is alot of trail and error but it can be done. |
I have seen myself that even just an inch or two in height difference between these dogs will make it VERY tough for an unassisted mating. I had to get a floor pillow out for the male i used to finally be successful, poor guy, by that time he was already so tired because of all the energy it took to try to reach!:( |
Thanks for the help! thanks for all the good ideas! we did try something like that but it seems as though he is 'shy' when we try to assist, they like to go off by themselves and then when I follow them they stop what they are doing. |
