Sending in AKC papers and need advice! 4 Attachment(s) I've always had such a hard time figuring out what people are calling tan and what they're calling gold. I'm attaching a couple of pics of Bella (we're just registering for fun since she's spayed, but I still want to know about colors). I know she has a silky coat from everything I've read about it, and I think she's blue (what do you think?)---she still has a couple of inches of puppy black at the tips, but the majority of her body hair looks to be a medium to dark gray to me, but in certain lights and in pics, it looks blue, so I'm assuming this is what "blue" means?? And, I think she's tan......gold is the darker color right? She's a very clear/shiny pale blond on her head, chest, and legs (although her legs are just a bit darker), with a darker shade around her nose and eyes. Just wanted to be sure I'm right, that she's blue/tan (and silky).....what do you all think? Thanks in advance for the help! P.S. The last 2 pics are of her with the stumpy part of a head of broccoli. My bf finished off the edible part (to him), so he gave her the rest....my little girl LOVES broccoli! I think it's pretty cute, but it also shows her colors in a little different light. |
i would put blue/gold because from the looks of her head sshe is in the process of turn ng and I think what you are seeing as tan now, will eventually become gold since she does have gold on her face. She is a very pretty girl!!!!!! |
Her head is gold . Tan is paler and don't shine very much . Bella is adorable . |
I agree with the others, blue and gold, they change so much in the first couple of years, and the head seems to darken to gold on many. Joey's head was almost pure white at 8 months, than beige, and now it looks a darker gold. Joey's a broccoli lover too. You picked the right name, Bella is beautiful! |
I agree with the others blue/gold. She is sooooooooo pretty:) |
Awww she could be my Lilly's sister. They look a lot alike! |
Thank you all for your insight. It's so hard to believe she's going to turn even more! Bella is my first Yorkie, and she turned 11 mo. old yesterday. Since she's so pale now, I just assumed that's what she'd stay.....I have heard people say theirs just kept turning for the first couple of years, though, so I guess she'll be one of those (or maybe they all do?) It's been so neat watching her change so far, so I'll look forward to the next several months too....of course, it's been sad too...means she's growing up! :( 4 lbs sure doesn't seem "grown up" though ;)...she'll always be my baby! I'd been waiting to send in her papers, but now that I know which box to check, I'll get them sent in! Thanks again! |
Okay, I know nodda thing about this but to me she looks gold AND tan and since there is more tan than gold, I would call her tan. But I actually would go with what Sugar's Mom says because I know nothing about how much color change can happen.;) I am just so used to seeing Ellie and she is so obvioulsy gold that a lot of Yorkies look tan to me (even if they are a lighter gold). And I reallllly don't understand the black, steel blue, silver thing. I can't tell the difference between black and steel blue because I think some say steel blue is lighter black and maybe some silver but then others say you should see no silver, etc. I don't know. |

Here are a couple of pics.....which are tan (if any). And, what color would you call your baby, Sugar's Mom (see below)?? It's all so confusing  |
Well, pics 2 and 3 look really gold to me. Maybe the lighting? I think you could choose either and it would be okay but if it were Ellie, I would go with Sugar's Mom's advice. |
