I am sooo sorry that this happened to you. I would really check into the Care Credit thing. My local vet has it. I got it when my yorkie broke his elbow. That was $1500 to get that fixed, plus the after care. I just pay it each month. I love having it in case of an emergency. It puts my mind a easy a little bit!

I know you are having a tough time with feeding both of them separetly. Maybe homecooking would work - let me know how you feel about homecooking for them :confused:

I don't think the OP wants to name her just yet. I guess she is still hoping to work something out towards the vet bills with her.

I think you should call the breeder and let her know whats going on with the puppy, she needs to know so she will not be breeding the pair again. I don't know how she will handle it, I would give you the money back for the pup and let you keep it, and help as much as I could. I bought a yorkie years ago before YT was even online, so I didn't know any better, and yes she was a byb, lucky I had the best care for Liver shunt, Dr. Tobias, it cost me around 4000 after all was said and done, about 6 years ago, but he didn't make it, it was worse than we thought, I contacted the breeder and she was like what do you think I should do, needless to say I will not repeat what I told her, I found out after the fact 3 more had Liver shunt from her lines, bottom line she didn't care, she is still breeding and with a 1 year guarantee, which is very sad. I hope you get the breeder to help you out. :(

I am so sorry you went through an ordeal like that. I hope Joey does ok, they are not using the ameroid constrictor, which I am a little worried about, but they said they don't like it. They claim to have done thousands of these surgeries, but each pup is different. I take it that breeder did not help you at all with the $4,000?

I am very tired tonight and need to get some sleep but decided to check out just what is being said. I just sent you an email explaining that I have not ignored your emails, I simply haven't been on the computer for several days becuase of work deadlines. When you called me tonight I was at work and didn't get the message until after 11:30 pm and figured you would be in bed. To set the record straight, the health guarantee states "(1) Keep the pup, & receive another puppy of equal value (2) Return the pup for another pup of equal value...............No cash refunds will be given, options for replacing puppy are stated above." I might add that this little guy is the first ever of our pups to have liver shunts. And, yorkies are 1200 times more likely to be born with or develop livers shunts than any other breed. But that fact is beside the point. Just to set the record straight, I WOULD NOT put the pup down if he was returned so don't even suggest that might happen. Now I am going to respond to some other posts.

Before I offered a health guarantee, I did much research to see what others offered. What I offer is common. I did not find one that refunded the purchase price. That's not saying that some will, I just didn't find any and I checked out a ton of breeders guarantees.

Resale value? Put him down? I felt we had a great connection before you got Joey and even since then but reading this and your other posts........you really don't know me. I love my yorkies to pieces. If it was all about the money, do you think I would keep as long as I do to find them the right home, instead of taking the first offer just to get rid of them.

I am a good breeder. If you think this is not tearing me up inside, you are so very wrong. I have been just as devestated over the news. Joey is one of my kids. I am saddened that this thread was even started before a call was placed to me. I would gladly trade the hospital bills from my husbands heart attack of almost a year ago, which I am still paying on, for the cost of Joey's surgery.
