Breeders be on the look-out!! FYI I received this from a friend/AkC judge today. I think that all breeders should be very careful!!!(sorry, I dont know how to cross-post from my e-mail) There is a case pending in NY state, where Lollypop Farm "investigators" went to a dog breeder's home and intimidated an elderly woman into signing papers that would release her dogs to them. The dogs were in good condition and their arear were also in good condition. Long story short, several of the people involved in the case, which is going to trial, have received visits from similar 'investigators" and thank heavens they listened to the advice ADOA gave them and told them to get a search warrant. Today Sally(not real name) and I spoke with another person involved in the case and no more than 1 hour after the call, Sally(not real name) got a call that they were at their house. The woman told them to get a search warrant, the "investigators" said that they had recieved a 911 call that there were very sick dogs in the home. They left and the woman, her hubby, Sally(not real name) and I had a conference on what to do next. The purpose of this e-mail is that HSUS is getting bolder and it is imperative that we all get the word out. Take addresses and phone numbers off your sites and use a PO Box for your dog show entries. Be careful, keep your home neat and the dog areas meticulous! BUT ABOVE ALL, IF THEY COME, TELL THEM NO YOU CANNOT COME IN, CALL THE POLICE AND TELL THEM THESE PEOPLE CAME TO YOUR HOME AND TRIED TO INTIMIDATE YOU, ALSO ASK FOR A BADGE, CALL SOME FRIENDS TO COME OVER, BE READY WITH CAMERAS IN CASE THEY COME BACK....... WE NEED TO FIGHT BACK!!! Be very CAREFUL!!! HSUS has people in every state! |
what is HSUS? I'm not a breeder, but was curious as to who these people are? |

Lynn thanks so much for your info on this. No one will come into my house without a search warrent. Does AKC have badges they can show people if they we're to come to your home? I've never been inspected by AKC yet so this was why I'm asking. You can email me the answer. I'm on my daughters computer @ her house this is how I'm able to view YT lol. On my phone I can't read all the post or threads or even post myself. Wish I could. Hugs, Lee |

They should be focousing on mills instead of bothering Responsible breeders who are doing their best to raise their dogs the right way. |
AKC does show credentials. I waved my hand like I believed him.. and he stopped me and told me that I should ALWAYS look and he MADE me look at it. Very good advice after I thought about it. |
I had a AKC inspector come about 2 yrs ago. He called before he came and showed me is ID when he came. He looked around and then fired up his computer as asked me for info on random litters. I had all the bills of sale filled out and all was ok. I didn't have the the ownership/breeding record records filled out on each dog as I use a calandar for my breeding dates and have all the dogs AKC papers in my name. I never knew I was supposed to do that. ( My bad) All in all he was nice and to the point and I passed. I ws surprised I got pick to be checked with only 4 litters that yr vs huge kennels in my state. Mabey the humane society should start checking sites such as puppyfind to find breeders with 5 different breed and 10-40 puppies for sale at one time. Not that all show breeders a perfect by any means, but the time and $$ it takes for them to buy and raise quality dogs to show in the ring, would make me think that they take darn good care of their dogs and would raise them well. ( I'm sure there are exceptions) There are 100's of breeders on the USDA lists in every state. I wonder how many of them have been checked by the humane society? |
Where is the proof that this was the HSUS? Sounds like a great scare tactic, to me. |
Thanks for the warning. One of my yorkie puppy owners volunteers at Lollypop. She actually has two of my babies. I'll have to check with her and see if she knows anything. Probably not, but won't hurt to ask. |

I suppose even if it is just a scare tactic, it is always a good idea to double check credentials as well as demand a warrent for anyone who wants to search your premises. :) |
I had inspectors from the AKC come to my home a few years back too. They called first showed their badges. Came in and went through my shot records a few past litter papers. Check their food and water bowls to make sure they were clean. They told me I didn't individually mark my dogs properly since I didn't have tatoos or name collars on them. Later I received a letter from AKC with my member ID # or whatever it is |
Thanks Thanks for the info - I have heard a lot of bad stuff about the H$U$ and they are calling people around here intimidating them over the phone trying to get information for what agenda I don't know, but I got an email warning about not talking to people who call claiming to be from the media and wanting to interview breeders about their practices and puppies in some effort to fight puppymills - and some responsible breeders are talking to them - mistake! They can turn your words around and use them against you. Anyone can look like a puppymill to these people - that's because they don't want anyone to own a pet. |
Wow! That's scary! |
