?? about nursing Hello, all....our babies are nearly 11 weeks old already! Out of the 9, we have 4 left here at home. The others all went to their new homes within the last week or so. The ones that I have here are still nursing some, but it's not because they need it...the ones who are at their new homes were nursing some, too up until they left. My mom took 2 of them to her house for a "trial" run to see how they would do away from momma, and they did great. My question is this...have any of you ever had a mother who didn't make the pups stop nursing? |
Yes, I have had some females that would continue to let pups nurse at that age or at least the pups were going through the motions of nursing. The mommas were dried up but I figure it was like giving a baby a pacifier. Some females make their babies stop nursing by 7 or 8 weeks while others don't seem to mind. |

Ok, thanks! I was just wondering. The whole pacifier theory makes alot of sense! I've suspected that they were doing it for comfort more than out of hunger. |
