Just Asking I am anxiously awaiting the new arrival of our Yorkie litter. I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience. Mamma is having some major gas today. It's terrible. I've been doing the temp thing, and it was 99.2 this morning, and now it's 100.8. I don't think anything is going to happen tonight. She is playing and running around like everything is normal. She lost her mucus plug yesterday, threw up this afternoon, and besides the gas, is perfectly fine. Have any of you ever experienced this as they get closer to delivery? By the way, we have everything ready, and we are just playing the waiting game. |
I have not had any problems with my pregnant females having gas. It could possibly be her dog food causing the problem. What is she eating? How is she doing today. |
She is eating Candie dog food. I've taken her off of the puppy food since it's the last week before she is due. She seems to be doing alright this morning. She had me up at 12:30 to go potty, and was nesting some this morning. Her temp was 100.6 at 5:30 this morning and then 99.6 at 7:30 when I left for work. I hope that she doesn't decide to have them while I am at work. I'm a nervous wreck and not able to get much done today. My husband will be home at 4:00 and will let me know how she is doing then. She ate her food this morning, so hopefully, she will be fine. I hope that she takes some time to rest today. The babies are still moving around, but not as much as this weekend. Maybe they are getting ready or it's just too crowded. She is so big. |
Oh, wow. It wouldn't be at all safe for her to be there alone and have pups. She may need your assistance or a c-section and if she is allowed to deliver by herself, the pups could be at risk. Could someone stay home with her? She should be on a puppy food still and even while lactating I think. |

Ellie is fine. She is off of her food today, and her temp dropped to 98.9 so I decided to stay home. She had a little shivering this morning, and is nesting. She won't come out of her whelping box, so I am taking it as a good sign. I have a vet on stand-by in the event that something goes wrong. I am hoping that it doesn't. She a contraction a moment ago and just growled at me like it was my thought. Checked her temp again and it's 100.1. After the spike we had the other day, I am assuming that this is it. The waiting is worse than when I was in labor. I'll update as soon as I can. |

I would not recommend giving cal-sorb during pregnancy unless the vet advises. Cal-sorb can make her sick to her stomach and make her not want to eat. During the whelping some breeders give cal-sorb if the bitch has gone an hour or more between puppies. I just always give Nutri-cal during the whelping. I would give her some nutri-cal now. Is she having contractions? |
