Thank goodness she is with you now and will be well taken care of. I know while there is a greater likelihood of complications, there are also many tiny ones who do fine with delivery. I wish you luck and hope for the best for your little girl. |
God Bless you for taking this little one into your home, I had something similar happen in my house with a rescue that we were told she was spayed and we found out the hard way she was NOT.. at least you seem to have a little experience with whelping, I had 30 days to take a crash course in whelping 101 to help my son's girl...thank god everything went perfect, I am sending prayers for you and your girl for a safe and happy delivery.. hugs, Carmen in nj |
Your vet will be able to tell you more with x-rays, but both of our litters, our 3.5lb female needed a c-section. (She only had 2 pups both litters- first one we caught in time, or she would have died...the first pup was breech - he didn't make it- and we had to take her for an emergency c-section.) The problem is that the puppies grow to large, and they can't fit through her birth canal. I really hope that she is okay, and that it gets figured out. Just as a reference, both c-sections were right around $1300 total here in Las Vegas. Hopefully you live somewhere much cheaper! :) P.S. We didn't know that she was too small to breed, even after talking to the vets and stud owner. Now that we know, we won't be breeding her of course. |
I would set aside at least $1000 for a possible c-section or any other emergencies. |
Thank goodness she has you for a mom - keep us posted. Sending good thoughts.:aimeeyork |
Awww....God Bless you for getting her out of that horrible place she was living in....i hope and pray that all goes well. Good Luck!;) |
thank-you all for your support. i am SOOOO mad at the lady that had this precious baby before i got her. even after all she has been through she is so trusting and sweet and it absolutely amazes me. if she doesn't make it through this after making it through all of that i don't know what i will do :( I will definately be calling the vet as soon as they open tomorrow morning and if she shows any signs i will take her to the emergency vet tonight. I am thinking and hoping she only has one small one in there. She has already gained about 3/4lb. which is a lot for a 3lb. doggy. has anyone had a 3lb. deliver fine? Thanks!!! |
Are most average "scheduled" c-sections around $1000? |
Blessings to you for fostering these 2 sweeties in your home!! I'm sending up Prayers that she has a fast and easy whelp!! Please keep us posted!! Good-Luck to you all, :goodluck::hands::rose: |

The vet should do X rays so you will be able to find out how many babies she has more than likely there will be only one. There are many people that breed small girls the little mommies do fine while others need help. The best place to get advice on her is from the vet as he will be able to get a pretty good idea on what she will need. Keep positive thoughts |
I'm glad you are so committed to helping this little girl, she is very lucky you found her. I know a lot of your questions will be answered tomorrow at the vet. I hope you will also start getting your things ready for the puppy(s). With such a small mother, the puppies could be very small. I would definitely have Bene-Bac and Pet Drops (Nutri-Cal for puppies) on hand and it may take a day or 2 to get it. There are also some good whelping pudding recipes on here that will help mom whether she has a c-section or not. Just a suggestion. Wishing you the best of luck. |
