Silky VS Yorkshire I am watching the dog show, I am not too familier with the silky difference from a yorkshire. Could someone please explain. Also can they be mixed with AKC papers and standards? Thanks CHristina |
The Silky Terrier is a breed with distinct differences from the Yorkshire Terrier. Here is a link on the Silky Club of American's website that explains the differences. Comparison of Silky to Aussie & Yorkie As for breeding, I am sure there are people that have cross bred the two breeds but they cannon be registered with AKC if they are mixed. |
Clarification Hello - I have a silky terrier. They all look different depending on their lines. The original breed was created by Yorkie and Australian terrier, so some lines have more or less of each breed. The biggest difference we have noticed is obviously size, fur and bark. They are about double the size, have fur which grows slower and their bark is more like a big dog. We love both silkies and yorkie. They are like close cousins. |
OH I have both, a yorkie and silkie girls... and they are VERY different in personalities and looks.. Prada my yorkie is more square and her colors are more golden and bluish,Chanel is more obolong less hair, more tan and silver and yes their bark is very different.. My hubby calls our silky a tornado...LOL she is always on the go, my yorkie is less hiper..LOL I love them both and yes they are like cousins...:D hugs, CArmen in nj |
