Pregnant Yorkie! My pregnant yorkie is about 62 days. I am worried cause there have been no signs of labor, i took her to the vet today, and they are going to give it to monday before scheduling a c-section. All three puppies are in breech position? Should i be worried or will there be comlications if she does go into labor. Will they stil be able to come through the birth canal? |

Yorkshire Terriers Information: Birth of a puppy Breech presentation was the reason my first pup died. She was stuck and I couldn't get her out. She drowned inside mom & couldn't be revived. It's not till after the birth that I found out they have to be pulled out within minutes of being stuck or they will drown. My Pebs went into labor on her 65th day. You have upto 66 days then they will need a csection if not delivered by then. Good luck!! |
I have been breeding for nearly 12 years and have had many breached puppies and have never lost one. As long as the puppy is still attached to the cord and the sack is not broke then the puppy should be okay. Of course if they are stuck for a long time they can die, whether they are breached or not. |
Welcome to YT Just wanted to say welcome to yt and Good luck on your Whelp. Do you have another Breeder or mentor to help you if needed? there are many here the will help you if her time comes. But if you feel she is distress take her to vet. Good luck.. |

Bitches are due 63 days after they ovulate. Unless you know what day your gal ovulated she may not be late at all. I wouldn't worry unless she is showing signs of distress. |

Ok my baby's feet come first: Posterior... My book on dogs that I read also says breech and it is a vet book. I will have to check later and see if it refers to the posterior position also. |
This is what Dan Rice DMV says: Posterior births (hind legs first) account for four out of ten puppy deliveries. They should progress the same as anterior (head first) presentations. A posterior presentation runs a slightly higher risk of fluid aspiration than an anterior presentation. A breech presentation will show tail first and are always cause for concern. In a breech both hind legs are folded forward in the birth canal, tight against it's body and only the rump and tail are visible. If the dam doesn't deliver the pup in 5 to 10 minutes call your vet. |

If she is not in labor then no need to do a C section. They don't always show signs ahead of time. One minute they can be acting normal and 5 minutes later there can be a puppy. |
Yes, please don't be too quick to do a c-section |
Monitor her temps also - between that and counting days and watching her, all will go well. Don't be quick on the Section........Let Nature take it's course but have the Vet on standby! Find yourself a good mid-woof on call too! |
