my little lady ? labor my yorkie is 3 and this is her first litter with me so i am preparing myself as much as i can reading up on everything and watching videos i know she has had a litter before from her previous owner but i am not sure how it all went. she is in great health and weighs 8 pounds. i am questioning when she is going to go into labor she goes tommorow for her ultrasound is that common or do they usually do xrays because alot of them on here seeem to have xrays. she seems to be very lazy and relaxed but has been licking herself alot and she is swollen and her vulva is red next to the opening i posted a question before because i wasnt sure if she was even pregnant if she is she would be due anytime because she tied 4 times from the 6th till the 15th of november she has a larger tummy and big teets but i dont really feel them moving sometimes i think i can but i am not sure! my other things is she will not let me go anywhere near her to take her temp every time i try she runs. whats your opinion anything will help thanks |

thanks i cant wait to see how many she is having that will be great she just has been following me around everywhere. i havent really felt the pups much so it makes me kind of nervous cause everytime i feel them i am not sure if it is actually them, and i cant take a temp so i guess it is a waiting game!i hope she does great she is going to be a great momma! but it is more thank likely not until next week but we will see |
It is pretty common for them to lick themselves when they are pregnant. They will have a thick clear discharge and many mommas like to keep themselves clean. I have had some mommas that would get so fat they could not reach their vulva and I would have to make sure they were kept clean. I usually trim the hair short in that area. If you are not feeling much movement then she might have up to another week to go. Since she was bred over such a long span it will be harder to know when she will have them but if you know what day she came in heat, I would count 11 days from then and I would bet she would have them around then. To take her temperature you need to just catch her, place her in your lap and with one arm wrapped around her just lift her tail and insert the thermometer. Be sure to hold her firmly. I like using the digital thermometers because they are wider on one end. Also, I put a little ky-jel on the tip. Best of luck with the whelping. |
