I messed up! My bella has been in heat and I knew we were just about done. I have been very dilligent about her and Scooby, keeping them in diapers or separated completely, but yesterday I took them out for a nice long walk and when we got home I (no other way to say it) was about to pee in my pants so when we walked in I dropped the leashes and ran. Came out 2 minutes later and that was all it took. They were stuck. Bella is only 8 months old. I know she is way too young to live through having puppies so if it took, I will get her spayed but my question is, how long until I know that it took? The mommy in me says rush her to the vet NOW! But, I know the vet will think I am crazy. I feel so horrible that I have broken out in hives and could not sleep last night at all! I am so concerned about her. |
By the time you find out if it "took", she will probably be to far along to safely spay. I would go ahead and make a spay appointment ASAP! |

(Hindsight 20/20...you should have taken one of them into the bathroom with you, thus separating them.) |
Thank you! Thank you sooo much for the advice. I hate that I screwed up so badly but I will get her to the vet as soon as I get off work. She is my baby girl and I would much rather just have her healthy and snuggling in my lap. |
If you were going to have her spayed, not to be mean, but, why wasn't she already spayed? Mine hasn't been yet, but, that's only because she is way too small still, but, she's also the only dog in the house that isn't spayed/neutered yet, and she doesn't go anywhere, so, there's no way I have to worry about her getting pregnant. I would take her in now and just get her spayed, may cost a little more, but, will be better for her in the long run |
I am in no way, shape or form a breeder, but this happened to my aunt. the vet gave her a "morning after" pill for her pup just in case. maybe you could ask about something like that rather than spaying if you were thinking about breeding her later on. if you didnt want to breed, id say probably just go on and get her fixed. |

I think you misunderstood. I had not intended on getting her spayed. We had intended on breeding her on her third heat. I said I would get her spayed now in orer to prevent her from trying to deliver puppies at such a young age. |
Talk to your vet before rushing into a spay. A spay is much more dangerous if done during a heat as the risk of bleeding is greaater |

First of all, please don't beat yourself up. You made a mistake and you are trying your best to remedy the situation. Monday will be plenty soon enough, so don't worry. Good luck both Bella to you! |

Thank you very much! So nice of you to make me feel better! |
Darn... unfortunately accidents do happen. Years ago my female schnauzer came in heat at 5 months, so early I didn't even know until my male got her; the vet had me wait a week or so til bleeding stopped and then did spay. Did you find out from the vet's office if there is a "morning after pill", in case that is an option? I haven't heard about one for dogs, but interesting to know. Good luck. |

So nice to see that people can still have nice things to say to someone that is already feeling bad for what she has done!:) Jackson:aimeeyork Gracie:aimeeyork Tucker:aimeeyork Rosey:aimeeyork Abigayle:aimeeyork |
