Due to the fact that I'm slightly a tech-tard and can't figure out how to resize pics to put on here, I'll put a couple links on instead. I have several pics in an album on my page, though!

Someone asked about stats...
6 girls, 4 boys, with the smallest (a boy) coming in at about 3 1/2 oz. The rest were 4 and 5 oz. I don't have a digital scale, so I can't get an exact weight.

Someone else asked how big momma is...
before she got knocked up, she was about 19 lbs, and Vader (daddy) is about 10 lbs.

Momma and babies are all doing fine this morning, pups are all active and nursing well, and momma is doing an amazing job! I'm so proud of her.

I do have one question, tho...is it normal for momma to not want to get up and eat or drink? It seems like she doesn't want to leave the babies long enough, even though her dishes are right next to the box. She eats and drinks when my husband or I hold the bowl right up to her, but hasn't made the effort to do it on her own.

All my new moms get breakfast in bed. Make sure that she eats and gets plenty of water. Suppliment with calcium and watch for signs of eclampsia in the next 3 weeks. That's a huge litter even for a really big gal and they will be a major frain on her body.

Congratulations! That is one huge puppy pile! Tami is correct, it is such a drain on mommy with that big of a litter. I never heard of one having TEN puppies! Be sure and give mommy extra food and extra calcium rich foods. You might want to make her some of the whelping pudding to help keep her nourished. Here is the recipe

Post Whelping Pudding

16 oz. water
1 pkg. Knox Gelatin
(micro. to disolve)
15 oz. can evap. milk
2 tabls. vanilla yogurt
2 egg yolks
2 tabls. white corn syrup
mix all ingred. in bowl let set in fridge
until thickens. Spoon out as needed

This is great! Thanks! I'll definitely make some for her! Luckily my husband is off work for the next couple of weeks, so someone will be here with her all the time.

Congratulations on your litter!! Wow, I bet that mama was exhausted after having all of them! How long did it take for her to have all of them? How is Lilah doing now? It took 3 hours for the first 9 to arrive. We then thought she was done...her belly was soft, and we couldn't feel anything else in there. She went outside and went potty. We moved the puppies into their warm bed and she was with them for about 3 hours. My husband noticed that her blankets were dirty again, and we thought that she had gotten sick again (she threw up alot during delivery). We moved the puppies to a clean towel on the floor, but I couldn't get Lilah to move...she kept sniffing around and I figured she thought the babies were still in the box, so I lifted her gently to the towel. I scooped up the dirty blanket, spread a clean one in the bed, and threw the dirty stuff into the washer (the laundry room is next to her bed/pen. I turned back around and saw blood on the floor, then Lilah moved her leg...and there was number 10!

She seems to be doing really well. I mixed up some of the Whelping Pudding earlier and gave her some of that...which she LOVED! And yeah, she's getting lots of extra pampering and loving!

I don't know how the breeders come up with names for all of them! I had a hard enough time naming hamsters let alone a bunch of adorable newborn pups... Smokey came to me already named and he kept his name because I couldn't think of anything else lol

As far as names, pick a theme and that helps to direct you to names. Places is a easy one.... Miami, Cheyenne, Paris, Bombay, Memphis. You get the picture. Also, you can google "puppy names" and find lots of lists of names for dogs.

They are cute, so glad everyone is doing well.

i have a family member wanting a yorkie puppy! I wouldnt let her have a puppy from my litter since they will be too small and she has an 8 year old. How much are you asking? I know someone looking and would provide a VERY loving home!

Unfortunately, we lost our littlest guy...he was half the size of his siblings, and just had such a hard time latching on. We tried helping him latch on, and supplementing with puppy formula, but with no success. It was heartbreaking...the little peanut hung on until Christmas afternoon.

The others, though, are doing great....fat little bellys and very content!
