Due on Christmas Im so nervous about this, we are supposed to be gone part of that day, im so praying it happens before. lol Anyone else having puppies around this time? |
Hopefully she will whelp before then. I never leave mine alone for several days prior to their due date, if I have to be somewhere, I get someone over to the house to sit with them. Even then, I am never gone more than 30-45 minutes. When you breed your dog, you make a committment to be there when they whelp. Good luck! |
Christmas or not I certainly hope you don't plan on leaving her alone for part of the day |
My girl is due on XMAS so we are here with her . Jo Ann |
Gracie is due Christmas Day as well--- We'll be home with her continuously. She's a big, rugged girl but first litter had big pups whelped in hospital because we got nervous about her labor seeming long and non-productive. Vet gave her a shot of oxytocin and four healthy puppies soon followed, but it was a long night of sitting on the examining room floor. I just noticed we're expecting a storm that day and hoping we can avoid that trip to emergency hospital. |
I agree. It is not the time to be leaving her alone. If you cannot avoid leaving home, put her in a crate and take her with you. |
Our Halle is due the day after Christmas...we had to change all of our plans and now Christmas is at our house :) |
Awww looks like we are not alone. I guess we call all wait together. lol I have someone to watch her I just dont want to miss anything. We havent had puppies in 2 years so we are really excited. She is a big girl and last time she had 7 I dont think there are that many this time but it wouldnt shock me. I already have everything ready for her. Magic, we are expecting a storm this weekend, atleast our vet is only a few blocks away but getting ahold of his isnt so easy sometimes. She welped easily last time alone so hopefully it will go that way. I didnt even know she was having them until she had one on my daughters blanket in front of me. For some reason she seemed to have no pain at all. |
Sorry to say but she doesn't planned to be pregnant on her own . Someone decided for her so this someone have to be there for her . |
Wow I guess people are right about posting an innocent thing and people assuming things here, NO I WILL NOT BE LEAVING HER ALONE!!!! lol I just wanted a simple thread about puppies due around Christmas, its an exciting thing. I now remember why I left here in the first place, I think I will keep my posting to just responding to others. |

no need to get upset because my intention wasn't to upset you.. But in reading your post, you yourself said you are supposed to be gone part of the day, so I assumed by that statement that your planned to be gone part of the day. All I was saying is that if you need to be gone, that is fine and understandable, but if it was me, I would take her with me. |
I guess I should have made it clear that I had someone to watch her, I didnt think anyone would assume any different. I cant take her with because its 40 mins away from a vet so she is better off staying home incase there is a problem. The person I have is very capable of handling her having puppies, I just want to be the one. You would think im the one having a baby for as excited as I am. |
I understand and it is exciting. These little guys just never seem to cooperate with OUR plans. |
I love the smell of puppy breath. So you think they'll be tea pots? For me, I like a bigger kid. Maybe you'll get lucky & she won't deliver until you get home! Then you'll REALLY have a Merry Christmas! Who says you can't have it all??? |

CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming litter. I understand your wanting to be there with her & to be a part of it. Hopefully your girl will have them while you're home and/or you can get there for the big event if she decides to start her whelp while you're gone. I've only had one litter so far (a little over a year ago) and my next won't be until late Spring/early summer next year and I am already excited for that day to come!:D |
