Another Quest. About Puppy Worming I called my vet to find out when I needed to de worm my pups and they told me to bring in a stool sample. They are almost a month old and have still not been wormed, but the vet didn't act like they needed to be yet. When does everyone else worm their pups? And do you use wormer from the vet or that liquid wormer you can buy at the stores? |
Puppies need to be dewormed and first shots at 6 weeks of age. |

I feel that it is best to wait until the puppies are at least 8 weeks old before they get their first shots. My vet recommends that you do not worm puppies unless you have a stool checked first and you know they have puppies. I have not had any of mine check positive for worms in years. Why risk making them sick from the worming if they have no worms? |
I've never had to give my pups deworming meds. I've never had a pup with worms. Why worm them when they don't have worms? Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |
Bjh I'm sorry to bring it up but you said, "My vet recommends that you do not worm puppies unless you have a stool checked first and you know they have puppies." LMAO I only say this because earlier I was commenting on a hernia post and I said "i bought my girlfriend from a breeder" I didn't notice til later and i died laughing..lol |
