HELP!!!!! my male puppy is humping my adult female!!! I'm not sure about the age where puppys can start to reproduce.i have a 9 yr old female senior mini yorkie AKC, weve had her since puppy so we decided to get her a lil brother to play with,a 9wk old AKC,which really she took to right away and spends most of the days now playing happily with him. Well.... heres my delimma.... i've noticed several times our new puppy Rex mounts Maxie and starts to hump her like try'n to mate ... i'm verry cancerned and dont want my Maxie to get pregnant.i have read that you have to wait till puppy is at least 6 months or so to nueter him. And another question is ....Who would be better off spay'n my senior fem. or waiting to neuter my male ... we dont want them to have puppies that we do know 4sure.... |
hello I can't say for sure but I would neuter the boy. since she is 9yrs I would not want to risk her life or health. |
1rst of all thx 4 reply'n so quickly....but do you know if my senior fem. can get preg. from our new puppy. i dnt want to take any chances because of her age.and i'm really thinking you are correct about not spay'n her with her age,but i have to wait to nueter our puppy, any advice in what to do till we have that done??is that action normal 4 such a young puppy?? |
So Rex has an eye for the cougars????:D:D:D |
a 9 week old puppy cannot get your female pregnant. i agree you should probably fix the male since your female is so old if youre only going to do one of them. also, you don't always have to wait until 6 month to fix. many vets recommend doing it earlier as long as the pup is big enough to be put under. |

Your puppy cannot get your female pregnant yet. And just so you are informed, there is no such thing as a "mini yorkshire terrier". All Yorkies are of one standard, and there are no minis or teacups, just plain old Yorkshire Terrier. :) |
1rst off...thx every 1 for your prompt reply's.... 2nd of all i keep reading that the 3-4 lbs yorkies are mini yorkies .... i pretty much know that there is no such breed of "teacups" that that is a way 2 describe them... sooooo i'm confused about mini description....my fem. is 3.4 lbs...ive seen and heard of yokies being as large as 10-15 lbs is not the mini description 4 the smaller breed ????ohhhh & thx bunchez 4 the advice about neuter'n my Rex that is prolly what i'm going 2 do... but how long do i have b4 he's able to impregnate my maxie??? |
ohhhhh... 'n shhhhhhh'z dvlshangel ...hehehehe.... |

As far as "mini" is concerned, the AKC standard is that yorkies "must not exceed 7 pounds". There are no adjectives to attach to the yorkie name. There is only the "Yorkshire Terrier". Some yorkies are bigger than 7 pounds and that's ok, they are just not within the standard. If you want to be clear that you have a smaller yorkie, it's probably best to just state her weight. Hope that clarified some things. |
Thx bunchezzz Leanna.. 4 clarify'n what i need to know ....i'm sooo try'n to learn all i can bout my 2 yorkies 3.4 lb Maxie ..'n 2.7 lb Rex ..smiles... Agn thx every 1 for your advice ... |
