Large puppies This is not my first litter, and it is my Lilly's 2nd litter. Her puppies were all average weight when they were born, between 4 and 6 oz. They are two weeks old tomorrow and 3 of the boys are enormous! weighing close to, if not over 16 oz already. I have had puppies off the weight charts, but never like this. Has anyone had this experience? I know they will slow down, but this is crazy. :p (Lilly's pups from her first litter were all within standard,(4-7) except one who is 8lbs. I fear that these babies will be teapots for sure!;) |
uh...do 'we' know who the daddy is? PS-I love my teapot!:animal36 |

And I love teapots too! But most people don't want teapots:( |
And I love teapots too! But most people don't want teapots They have no idea what they are missing! I never knew they existed until Buddy. If I were to ever get another it would have to be 9 lbs and over! Congratulations on your two babies. Teapots are wonderful in every way. You just can't stick them in a tote bag and carry them around. They are also very healthy for the most part. I am sure there are wonderful future loving homes awaiting them. |
My Chachi is a teapot and he is the perfect yorkie if you have kids like I do. I like my yorkies durable. I bet you find great homes for them. |
I totally have to agree with you! My Abbey is a 9 lb teapot! She is just amazing! She is very athletic :))! |
Thanks Ladies, and I have to agree about teapots. But this whole thread was asking if anyone had this same experience. The puppies are all beautiful and very healthy, but if seems like they are a week ahead of what they should be. :p |
I really don't go by the weight charts at this age, all they are doing is sleeping and eating, next week they will be moving around more. They are going to slow down their weight gain when they are up and playing. Don't worry, so what if they are "teapots". As long as they are healthy. |
My last litter I thought I was going to have the first 50 pound yorkie with the rate they were growing. lol When they started running around the growing stopped. They turned out within standard. |
i swore that one of mine got mixed at the vet after a c-section. he was HUGE... and now at 6 months.. hes still huge at about 10 lbs. lol. his sister is only 4 lbs though and started out at the same size as him... so you really never know |
Thanks, these are the answers I want to hear. :D I have had 5 litters in total and this is the first litter that is so much off the weight charts. Even my husband told me to stop worrying and he doesn't know anything about my puppies! |
Is that the litter that is on your website? I have 2 boys & have been hankering for a girl & I WANT one that is bigger. |
