Anyone have pictures of their puppy area? 1 Attachment(s) Just curious how others have it set up for their puppies?? I used to have the puppy pads covered the whole bottom portion until recently, now I have a seperate area for potty, play and sleeping. They are doing great with using just their potty area to use the bathroom (sometimes they play there too though). Occasionally there will be accidents in the play area but I go in a check on them every couple hours and clean up with bleach water if there are any accidents. Do you think bleach water will get rid of the smell they leave behind? Any suggestions for the puppy area I have set up? I change out their sleeping bedding at least once a day, because sometimes they have poo on their feet and they get some on it and I dont want them thinking its ok that their sleeping area is dirty. They are 6 weeks old and on the road to potty training already! |
OMG!!! Super cute! |
Thanks for that post! I will be needing to re-arrange my kitchen in December and doing the very same thing. Is your room away from the rest of the house? I heard that it's good for them to be out of the middle of things until they are a certain age. Good thread :) |

Your pups are sweet. Any bleach makes Lucy feel yukie & she's an adult dog. There are less harmful things to use for smell, even if it is just vinegar & water. |

I have their main area in a bedroom in the back because my house is cold (hubby likes it that way ) however I do have another puppy pen I have set up in the living room where they come join the family everyday. Now that they are older though and the room doesnt need to stay as warm I will be moving them in there permanently. You are right though, its best to keep them in an active room so they get used to the hustle and bustle of a family! |

As the puppies get better at their pottying on the pads, I will keep expanding their area just like I would if I were potty training normally. :p |

I use bleach water, its just a little bit of Bleach and mostly water. Kinda like the Clorox anywhere spray. |
be sure to dry the area completely after cleaning with bleach.. these chemicals can be toxic..and watch out for swiffer wet jet chemicals, i heard they are deadly toxic.. i always dry my floors with a towel after mopping. i love the febreze mr. clean products.. but my dogs will lick anything..:) i have a gated off room with a doggy door to an outside fenced area.and i used my xpen for my puppies.. with a large crate inside..on a tile floor.. i started with carpet, but they totally ruined it.. carpeting and puppies do not mix well..i changed my puppy bedding at least twice a day.. momma cleans them up herself for weeks.. gross... laundry out the wazooo:) |
dont worry im not pouring bleach on the floor and leaving it wet for the puppies to walk around in lol. i am not worried about them getting poised my concern was if it cleaned up the smells good enough, to me it doesnt smell but didnt know if bleach still left a little of the smell behind. I am sure it doesnt though. Carpet and puppies def do not mix, all they need to do is step in some fresh poo and walk around and track it everywhere, not to mention their other accidents! Thats why I layed down some cheap linoleum flooring in one room so if they had an accident it wouldnt be tragic. lol I have thought of the puppy door idea, but I really dont want unwanted critters and bugs in my house  oh and now that the puppies use their potty area pretty good, they have been able to keep their bedding much cleaner, so I dont have to do so much laundry! thank god! |
