Is this normal? Hi everyone! My baby is more than 20 weeks old and weighs 3 pounds 9oz tonight after dinner, but he is already the size of a full grown one, which is 8" tall and 9" long at the back, is this normal? And I don't think he is thin. The breeder said her Yorkies stop growing early, the bone structure is not going to get any bigger, is this true? Or is my scale broken? |
Yorkies generally do not stop growing completely until they are around a year old. This day and age the size/weight of Yorkies is all over the place, so nothing is really that unheard of anymore in regards to those two aspects. (unfortunately) |
It really depends! Some lines do stop growing early on and if she has been breeding a long time with the same dogs she could predict pretty well, but still there can always be a throwback. Usually yorkies will grow until 6 months with their structure and then continue to gain weight and muscle until around a year. |
