Canadian Yorkies in the U.S. - 2 Questions
 
I think that some of the U.S. yorkies here may have come from breeders in Canada. are there special considerations to factor in when considering a breeder in another country? I know nothing about things like quarantines or separate health inspections, or anything like that.

WOW !! ........ I'd be real concerned too ...... almost looks like a *mill* with all those mixes being offered ...... ya gotta wonder if they are just letting their bitches breed with whatever comes along when they're in heat ..... I think I'd be looking somewhere else .... if it were me.

I don't call this one a breeder but exactly a PUPPYMILLER .

I would stay away from them. Too many different breeds. General rule of thumb.. if more than 3 different breeds they are usually considered a puppy mill. Good luck in your search!!

Durrers Yorkies are from Canada. She is very reputable and alot of her Yorkies are here in the States as well as alot of other countries. She has been a breeder and an exhibitor for around 30 years. Go to sweetyblue.com to see her many champions and the quality of her dogs. I would not hesitate to buy a dog from her. Just as I would research the American bred dogs and breeders, I would research the Canadian breeders before purchasing a Yorkie.

My male BISS AM/CAN CH Groveshire's Under the Radar came from Canada and I am from the US and I researched the Canadian breeder as I would have an American or any other breeder. I didn't have to quarantine him when he came to the US.

:eek::eek::eek: Thank you all for your input. Looking at the site now makes me ill.

I appreciate the info about quarantining too-- it would break my heart if I had to put my baby in quarantine like they require for pets coming in from overseas...
