52 day pregnant need advise Last night my yorkie which is 52 day pregnant had diarhea with blood in it i live in a small town i took her to vet this morning and they did a stool sample and said she had cociddia the vet was out of town and the lady was not for sure if you could give albon to a pregnant dog so she gave her panacur when the vet calls her she is suppost to ask her if you can give albon to a pregnant dog and call me does anyone know if you can give albon to a pregnant yorkie |
Albon Sulfadimethoxine (albon) can be associated with teratogenicity and late term abortion. Not at all trying to scare you as you will have to treat this. Coccidia can be very dangerous to your puppies as well as any other dogs you might have and can be quite difficult to fight.... Check with your vet about Ponazuril (sold as Marquis). I believe there is less risk associated with it but it works very well and very quickly. That said, you need to contact either your vet or maybe another vet in the area and have them give your vet's office a call so they will know what to prescribe. Panacur will do nothing for the coccidia.... Begin immediately by cleaning all common pet areas with bleach and keeping them free from fecal matter. Coccidia has a 14 day incubation period, so for the next month be super vigilant about keeping all common areas free of fecal matter (although that should always be at the forefront of your cleaning regime). |
Thanks for the information I had read on the internet that you could not give albon to pregnant dog the girl at the vet was going to give it to me and I question that and she got real upset she gave her panucur because she said she might have worms and the eggs might not show up in the microscope I don't like going to this vet put their is not other vet within 70 miles I will tri to get another vet tommor to see her Thanks Donna |
